My whole family was going to New York for a ten day vacation two weeks ago, but I couldn't go because my school decided to put every single essay and test we need to finish our courses within that timeframe. We literally haven't had anything important to do for the entire school year, and when I want to travel they give us everything we haven't done right there. My family went whitout me, and I had to stay home to study.
And before someone says "but you should have checked the schedule beforehand!", I did, months beforehand. There was nothing in there. I even talked with my teacher months ago and asked him if it was okay for me to go, and he OK'd it.
I really wanted to go, since I've never been to NYC.
I don't remember many nude scenes from 2000-2005 popular series really. But recently HBO and other TV channels as well are screwing every series around by oversexualizing and showing nudity more than it should be.
I take it you're thinking about (amongst others) all the sexscenes in Game of Thrones. While I also feel incredibly annoyed about it, since I'm a diehard fan of the books, I must say that the creators are incredibly clever in their way of using it. The sexscenes are there for one reason, as I'm sure you know (I'm not trying to be cynical or arguing against you here, just expressing my way of seeing it), and that is to get more viewers. Sex sells. Lots of shows are doing it, but what's special about GoT is that, often when there are lengthy scenes where characters are talking they've added lovemaking in the background. That way, people who really aren't interested in the plot have incentive to keep on watching what would otherwise be "the boring parts", while the fans can enjoy the story unfolding. And this is important, because I'm willing to bet that there aren't enough actual fans who enjoy watching GoT for HBO to keep on supporting the series as much as they are right now, without all the people who watch it solely for the action and sex. So in a way, the sex scenes are as important for us who don't like them as for those who do, because they allow the series to continue being produced. And GoT is a pretty well-written series, even if it doesn't compare to the books, and I wouldn't want it to be canceled.
At least this is how I understand it, but I could be completely wrong. I still don't like the sex scenes, but in this way I can at least find a reason to stand them being there. This is probably the reason for sex scens in other series aswell, but GoT does it in such a clever way (sex in the background while people talk about important stuff) that it sets it apart for me.
