The problem with the RNG store is that it is NOT pay to win, at all, at all, at all. The poor odds of getting ANYTHING useful at all is why I would never spend a single penny there. And this is from someone who has all the story DLC, all the weapon DLC, and even one of the alternate appearance packs.

But some people do pay, don't they?

Really, is that model any different from card game booster packs?

One play-through I had EMS of over 9000. Same crappy ending. People with EMS over 20000. Same crappy ending. If you played a ton of MP and promoted to get EMS 100000? Same crappy ending. You'd think the last one you could refuse and win.

Pfft! I had 9999999999999999999 credits in ME1 and couldn't buy my own private fleet/army to stop Saren.

I mean... what crap, right?

The amount of cash you can generate in ME1 is hilarious, even in the first playthrough.

Immersion in the game? There's supposedly a war going on across the galaxy and I guess they were hoping to show that with multiplayer. Take a hotspot and defend it or suffer the consequences. Lose too many valuable resources and you lose the war.

Except that it broke the lore yet again by having alien N7 operatives by the boatload and gave us things like reformed Collectors.

I remember reading a fanfic of ME2 that had TiM paying Shepard from Shepard's own seized accounts. Though that was a nice touch. Multi-millionaire Shepard from ME1 now only gets an allowance from Daddy.

It's kind of like gambling though, it isn't a 100% rational decision.

And Shepard didn't have the wherewithal to put it in some kind of account, because all those funds basically became space dust with the Normandy.

You could make the argument that the asset scoring is dependent on how well they boost the galaxy's morale, in which case a handful of rock-star soldiers could contribute more than random ships or materials. But yeah, still borked.

The way I understood it, they are liberating strategic points. Fuel depots, communication arrays... stuff like that. You know, galaxy readiness. Hard to fight a war without fuel for ships or not knowing what's waiting for you on the battlefield.

Nobody ever said they thought this through :) And Hackett does say they are calling themselves N7, but not all of them actually are N7.

Wait.... so you think that MP should have been even more important than it was?

We kept getting these messages at 100% readiness that we had stalled the reapers and were winning in key areas. These MP Events where we'd push back the reapers in a major offensive. This stuff led to things like Puzzle Theory where if we bought all of the DLC with the final DLC we'd get to refuse and kick the reapers in the daddy bags.

What a load of horse crap!

You know, in all my time playing MP I have never once NOT left the target overrun by the enemy. :)

You by chance have link to that story? I came up with similar idea, but I'd love to see what others came up with :D

Sure thing, only it's mostly a Shepard-Tali romance fanfic (Pg-13) about a post CB independent Normandy crew. Now I really like the Tali romance, but damnnn.

Yeah, ok... thanks for the effort, but Tali really doesn't appeal to me, so I guess I'll skip it after all. I was hoping for more of a one-shot kind of thingy, but maybe some other time.

Still, thanks for trying :)

No worries. That story goes on and on, I never finished it myself. I happened to still have the bookmark in my phone's browser. The level of Tali worship in it was almost enough to put me off, and I love Tali's character. Still, as fanfics go it was better written than most and had some good ideas and scenes.

Intermittent reinforcement, right.Keeps people hitting those levers for the rat chow.

Yes, exactly.

IIRC, this response is thought to be pro-survival in nature because it keeps you performing behaviors that are rewarding even when they don't pay off consistently. Slot machines and so forth attach this drive to non-productive behaviors.

Does this mean I am a freak of nature because I don't play the slots or lottery?

I must be one too I only played it once, when I turned 21 in Vegas.

"Farmers" seem to be the exact opposite of "whales" though. Farmers are trying to earn in-game credits to get higher level gear, while whales want to short-circuit the whole time spent in-game and get right to the high level guns/etc. So, having someone addicted to MP who then goes on to farm is not going to get you any earnings. (I've done some farming myself.)

You have someone playing the game for a long time, which is a lot better than someone who uninstalls the game after beating the campaign once when it comes to selling DLC, merchandise, the sequel, etc.

This is the reason I utterly despise MMORPGs and Diablo, by the way

You could also bump your assets just high enough with the Infiltrator game, too, if I recall correctly.

I tried it. It still didn't work to get High EMS destroy.

Nah. We'd have to get you into a lab to prove that. I'm not sure what percentage of the population exhibits the behavior anyway.

Hey, how about fixing the thread title?

You could get Synthesis without MP. It was difficult to get the destroy breath scene, though, unless you played MP

I also despise mmo's as well for this reason. I'm mostly am a single player person myself as it's mostly those that don't micro transition the **** out of stuff are the top dogs in those games.
