Honest query: why was MP necessary for Synthesis ending at one time?

Meaning, it should be possible to get sometihng a little extra if you put some extra time and effort into it.

Sure, why not? Just because there are no perks in the entire trilogy is no reason we shouldn't have them just for our super loyal multiplayer players... Ok, maybe that's taking things just a bit too literallyI do think it should be possible to get a perk
Sorry, but the point of that one figure was that you couldn't get the best ending without MP based on all the available EMS based on the data mined game, not on how much you might or might or might not have caught in your game.I tried it. It still didn't work to get High EMS destroy.

To answer the OP: to make you play the MP. Which might make you buy stuff.
Short(er) answer: money.

Anyway, I enjoyed Multiplayer a great deal.

Ah. For some reason, I thought it just barely got the job done. Oh well.

I'm not sure but maybe this multiplayer thing is more sensitive for console players?
Sensitive in what way? I played MP a little(a good 76 hours, which translates into 234 games played, which, compared to some people on BSN isn't all that much), but I never remember anything about it being sensitive.
PS3 player, if that matters.

He might be referring to the Xbox 360, where of course we all know to access multiplayer you must pay a subscription fee. PC and PS3 had no such restriction.
I do remember fondly the Bioware posts about how every piece of single player content was available by just playing single player, and how they continued to say that even when shown the numbers that they were wrong. Then one day the thread saying it was possible vanished and the new line was that it'll be fixed in the future.

Then the post EC saying it was originally a "reward" for players who went the extra mile, but now that they were in post-release it was available to everyone...

Did anyone ever check the EMS level with all DLC installed? It didn't work with only From Ashes, but it might work with the rest.

Putting those two facts together -- "reward for MP" and "it works without MP" makes Bio sound awfully confused. But we knew that already.

All DLC with the original cut? I'm sure it'd work just fine, especially since Leviathan added quite a bit.

Wasn't paid DLC for a "good ending" considered a bad thing?
Not by me. It's what I advocated from the start. Sadly the hysterical entitlement of people expecting a complete rewrite for free precluded such a path. Instead we got the half-fix of the EC.

I did a default ME3 playthrough on the pc(I play on the ps3) in October 2012(my one and only playthrough) with the ec installed, no dlc and no mp. I did everything to get all assets possible and my ems at 50% was 2932. I was able to get all endings. I was surprised I got the breath scene.
Before the ec, the highest amount of war assets that could be obtained with an import was around 7850(someone correct me if I'm wrong with the number) and at 50% was not enough to getthe breath scene, which at the time was 4000 ems. So you did need to play multiplayer.
Now with all the dlc released, I believe the highest amount of war assets that can be obtained is nearly 9000

Hey, I'm with you. I happily paid $10 for Broken Steel, after all.
Just being sarcastic at the idea that "everything is fine" EMS-wise if you buy all the DLC, because for many people, that isn't fine.

There was a lot more to Broken Steel than the change in the ending, though, and the exploration-reliant Fallout 3 is a different beast without free-roam.
EMS wasn't even a concern after the EC, anyway.

So was the color-coated morality system, but we work with what we've got.
Really, a war with the Reapers was a bad idea, period.

The colour-coded morality system worked perfectly fine for me. Plus, it was a shout out to KotOR, which is always good.

The color-coated morality system drove players to mindlessly choose either blue or red instead of actually thinking about the actions, and it also restricted interaction with NPCs based on obtaining high levels of those colors that were easily manipulated by imports or experience gained from shooting stuff.
Not great, whatsoever.

I disagree. I think the war asset system had potential, but that it was very poorly implemented. As for MP and SP, it'd have been cool if MP had a positive effect on the SP without detracting from it.

Morality systems in general are usually very limiting and indiscreet for how they want you to choose options. The morality system in Mass Effect especially was very one-sided and blatant with what you were 'supposed' to choose.
