I ask this out of curiosity, but why do sentinels basicly get no love?  Engineers don't either frankly, but I am curious what it is about the classes that make it unappealing, or at least less appealing than the others?

I personally am probably going to make my first playthrough as a sentinel.  Being extra tough along with such versitile powers seems pretty awesome.  Thoughts?

I'm going with Sentinel. If anything, they strike me as the most ideal "jack of all trades" class, which is generally the path that I prefer taking.

ME 1 Sentinels where GOD's if you gave them either AR, warp or singularity.

I could preaty much CC anything into oblivion.

jack of all trades are usually weaker. who wants to do lots of things crappy? their special ability is just extra shields...use cover.

the engineer gets a bot that is like a weaker squad mate i assume. not really cool or amazing. taking over robots is cool, but sometimes you won't be fighting them.

Because easily half of the ME players are Halo/Gears Of War fans and only want to shoot the loudest weapon they can find.  Since sentinels are all about the abilities, they have no draw for the hardcore shooter crowd.

I'm still trying to decide whether I want to go Sentinel or not, but I definitely love them as a class.

My main thing is that I dislike Shep having biotic abilities but love him/her having tech ones. Sentinels with Tech Armor have the most badass representation of tech ability in-game I think. Unfortunately, to me at least, they also have Warp and Throw, which adimittedly aren't so bad but still biotic.

I'll probably play one still though, I just have to try and find more of an appreciation sytlistically for Shep having biotics.

stealth, slow-mo/conc, idspispopd, and singularity just seem more fun than having more shields.

So basicly not enough testosterone inducing overkillary for most and "more shields is boring" to the rest.

I personally like the idea of wading out into enemy fire, waste their shields and armor in succession then stun them as my shields drop and then hose them... Maybe I just like the idea of getting hit with their best shot and still owning what shot me.

I imagine that the ME2 Sentinel will have the most interesting choices when it comes to bonus skills.

if they had the shotgun it would be nice to always be near the enemy for constant aoe dmg/knockdowns from shield depletion, but the vanguard can get an aoe charge =/

they have NO weapons training (or didnt) and couldnt do any one thing particularly well; they had more versatility than other classes, but less powerful abilities because of it; and when your probably gonna try out a few classes anyway, the appeal is even less. in ME2, they are certainly improved, but for me the other classes are still more interesting. the jack of all trades is the same as 'knower of everything, master of nothing' and in the face of other more focused hybrid classes, arent so great. it doesnt help that their special ability only lengthens the amount of time they can get shot, and as great cc players, that seems pretty useless.

Well we know they can get Slam, whatever that is, but yeah I can't see many limits on what they could learn.

Sentinels have offensive versatility on par with the soldier. Soldiers get ammo types for each enemy, but Sentinels get Warp and Overload to take out just about any defense as well, without having to waste any ammo for it. They also get Cryo Freeze and Push to finish off baddies... and throw in this game is a pretty awesome finisher. Cryo Freeze + Push makes for spectacular results as well.

Also, AR's run out of ammo. Fast.

I just recently played thru Me as a Sentinel on advice from a friend. He knew I joyed playing thru as both an Engineer and an Adept so he suggested I give the class a shot. I loved how durable they turned out to be if you took bastion and maxed barrier and electronics. Just thought it was really awesome to be a cc tank I guess. Anyways Tech armor looks to increase their durablity yet again and after seeing the live stream yesterday and learning a few things, I saw their durability potential increase even more ( in theory mind you, pm me if you want specifics, gonna keep this spoiler free though). All and all I'm pretty excited about them and I can't wait to see if my theories pan out.

I see the Sentinel as having some incredible spike potential. The whole stun field when Tech Armor drops is pretty awesome, and then hit them with some Tech/Biotics after, and bam, they're done for.

The way I see it the sentinel is the second reckless class in the game, vanguard being first of course. Where the vanguard is a high risk, high reward class because of its charge ability, the sentinel is a (for lack of a better term) a cocky SOB because of tech armor. Sentinels won't have to be in cover as much so I see them running strait for the enemy knowing that their tech armor, shields and health have to be drained before they can be killed. So why tech armor may not be as flashy as some of the other abilities, its sure is a useful trait to have on the battlefield.

Sentinels are dull. The pure classes are better because they're pure, infiltrator has cloak (AWESOME), Vanguard can almost teleport (kind of cool), and the Sentinel, well... It's more durable? I'm not even sure what they're supposed to do, really.

Well, they've got exploding shields.

Neither Vanguard nor Infiltrator are pure classes. Soldier, Engineer, and Adept are.

I agree cloak is pretty cool. I don't see how it is cooler than Tech shields. The only thing cloak can allow that tech shields can't is a full on run through the middle of the front lines to then attack from the back. If you try that with tech shields the enemies would see you are move to react. Charge is awesome I agree. I just don't see why being a damned juggernaut with debuffs and CC is unappealing.

Aside from the whole "I need a bigger gun" obsession some people have.
