Apologies if this has been asked already or answered in another topic. I was wondering about the mounts since the game seems to be leaning towards a more open world method of exploring and traveling which is why we're getting mounts to make it easier and faster to travel if I gather that up correctly. So what I'm wondering is if while we are riding our mount and we run into some enemies and decide to fight them does our mount fight too? Can our mount die? If so will it respawn at one of our keeps or do we have to get a whole new mount? Or does it disappear when you get off of it? I mean unless there are only set paths and what not that we can ride our mount on we're bound to run into a few enemies while riding aren't we? Again sorry if this has been discussed and answered already.

As far as I am aware, all we have been told is that we can have mounts. No details, sorry.

Well with E3 less than two weeks away, hopefully we won't have to wait long.

Only two weeks? Wow I really lost track of time. Hopefully there will be a nice big info feast for everyone to gorge themselves on then that'd be nice ![]()

I heard that there would be no mounted combat. Whilst I have no problem with this, I am concerned that it will get annoying having an enemy attack you and the only way to engage with that enemy is to dismount first while they're hitting you. Does anyone have similar concerns or maybe some reassuring news that this won't happen?

Awwww
and here I was really looking forward to maybe using that bog unicorn to impale incoming enemies as they approached. Maybe we can just ride past enemies then instead of having to stop and dismount? It would save a headache especially in areas you've been through already.

-snip-
xD I'd put my dwarf on one of those though I doubt she'd be able to stay on it.

Cy's mount will obviously be Vivienne.
Does Cy need to tell you why?

If we are talking about into battle like I am then yes I would be quite curious on how you'd pull that off, if you are not talking about the battle field then I'm fine not knowing why. ![]()

Maybe your mount can do some damage. It would be odd if you're riding a wyvern and it can't bite your enemies head off.

There's quite a bit of stuff about mounts that we don't know yet. I myself wonder if your companions get their own mounts or somehow disappear when you are on one and then respawn once you get off.

I know in the demo with the dwarf warrior they showed him on a mount but I don't recall seeing his companions with him I believe there's a video of it in the scuttlebutt section if you like to take a look maybe it'll at least answer your question about mounts ![]()

Doubtful considering there is no mounted combat which implies your mount won't likely be able to dish out damage.
In general games which feature mounts and no mounted combat you will either get dismounted if you aggro mobs or you can attempt to run past them. And even then you can always dismount as soon as you are near enemy mobs if the game doesn't do it automatically. Since you can mount a horse yourself, I don't see it dismounting yourself as soon as you see the enemy as weird.

Doesn't really say much because at times when he is just walking you can't always see his party either. I doubt companions will be running along or have mounts but the video of the dwarf inquisitor doesn't tell us much and it actually raises more questions.

Hmm alright I admit I didn't watch the whole thing since it froze every minute for me thank you for clearing that up. Still wish they would answer more questions on mounts cause I have a lot of them.

I heard there would be no mounted combat, not sure if that was confirmed or just speculation. As for the different types of mount, i would guess since the game has multiple regions rather than 1 big open world the different mounts will be exclusive to each region with the ability to store them in your keep once aquired.
Just a theory.

Well with what they said about certain Mounts suppose to be useful over certain terrains I guess that makes sense, still a little bummed by the lack of mounted combat but thanks for the info : 3

There was a Q&A session on Raptr on Tuesday where it was confirmed that the companions will disappear when the main character rides a mount.

Interesting well guess I won't be using mounts too much then since they only seem to offer getting from point A to point B faster. Thanks for the link ![]()
