Then try RP'ing characters instead of playing them for maximum power. Power use, weapon choices, playstyles, all can be changed by the 'character' that you set for your characters.

Also, change your dodge/evade tactics. If the reason you're bored is because you rarely ever die, then maybe you need to play a bit riskier. Real krogans stand in the face of the gunfire, embrace it, until only they remain!

That sounds like an excellent and well thought out plan.

But I propose a simpler one, based on old Krogan wisdom:

"Stop whining."

Tss, todays GI would be no match for the original Vanilla Human Infiltrator if you go that far back. Remember how much damage you actually did with TC before they nerfed it?

Riiiight. TC bonus 50% instead of 40%. Sniper rifle bonus 40% instead of 25%. That means nothing compared to worse weapons, no level IV ammo and no gear.

Of course, infiltrators have always been stupidly OP.

How can i do that when the mooks are dead before i can complete the combo? I throw a warp and the enemies die before the recharge speed is even completed. WTF??

And that's why I hate biotic & love tech.  I've completed biotic mastery 5x & tech 26x. TECH ALL THE WAY!!!! Nothing beats Flamer! NOTHING!!!!

Yeah, but when I used to do my lvl 1 Gold solos back in the days it was a hell of a lot easier than it is today should I use the same class and weapon that I used to do.

You see, I need to reference a difficulty change based on as many things as possible being equal. If I took my lvl 1 Asari Vanguard with the Carnifex X against Cerberus on Gold I had a much easier time than if I would do the same thing today. Sure you can take a TGI Harrier X with Armored Compartments and full equipment and it would be easier than a lvl 1 Asari Vanguard solo, but that is not how you should compare it.

Don't compare classes and weapons but instead look at the changes to game mechanics and enemies. That tells you if the game itself became easier or harder. If you had a TGI Harrier X at its current state when the game was first released the game itself would still have been easier than it is today.

AV w/ Carnifex may be harder, but that would basically only be because Carni didn't get buffed like nearly every other weapon did, and enemies have a bit more HP than they did at release.

Unclear on what mechanics changes occurred that would make the game harder.  There really weren't any whatsoever, unless you count the FE and CE change.  Or count the drop in shieldgate from 100 to 90 and then 75%.  Prime's drone was fixed, I guess that is a slight difference for Geth.

There were many more buffs to powers and weapons than there were nerfs, DLC characters and weapons were nearly always more powerful than release weapons and characters.

Dumdum pls.

You can't just ignore the addion of a huge assload of stuff that makes the game easier - it makes the game easier because we're free to use it. Besides, you're cherry picking. For example, soloing a Turian Soldier with a Black Widow against Reapers is much easier today, even without gear and new consumables.

I'm talking about the game in general. Soloing versus Cerberus may indeed be harder in some aspects - because of the addition of Dragoons - but this is a co-op game, and overall the tools we have to deal with our enemies have greatly improved - and we have much more tools in our disposal, accommodating a much more diverse range of playstyles than ever before.

I was going to derail this thread a bit more but in all honesty I'm tired and need to go to bed. Take care buddy!

That tech explosion tweak really changed the game.

QFT. Before the change, gun classes ruled and engineers were somewhere near the bottom power level wise. Actually, come to think of it, i think they were considered the 2nd worst simply because vanguards had the glitch. If there was no glitch they would probably come in dead last

Also, the Avenger is deadly on full auto.

Not if you take shield gate into the equation.  Remember how the Javelin was almost unusable on any class other than the Salarian Infiltrator?

It was usable on GI, you just had to shoot some guys twice. :)

Nice rage quit last night.

I started a platinum. Another player gets added. He goes down immediately. I run over, revive & get downed. I had to waste 2 medigel & a rocket to get out of the mess. Then the bastard leaves. Then you get added in & YOU immediately leave. Then both of you get added in later anyway. Total waste of time. If you both had just stayed in the first place I would have been in better shape for the later waves. It was downhill from there so I said eff it & quit & played some gold. I was already in a really pissed off mood anyway. This stupid ass game doesn't know how to add players in a timely fashion. Makes me sit in the lobby for hours. The only thing I can do is start solo & hope it adds players.  Nothing is more frustrating than when players finally get added but then leave immediately. Or when I start with 4 but end with only 2. Half of the games I play start with 4 but end with just 2 of us.

So don't talk to me about rage quitting when you quit immediately upon entering the match. Oh! Nobody was supposed to know that little detail right? Just make me look bad & don't tell the full story right?

And how do you know I didn't get disconnected or my Xbox froze?

If difficulty is desired, simply up the maximum number of enemies on the map. Not too many or it will backfire as enemies will stand dumbly due to the targeting cycle. I'm current set to 10 with berserk count at 100 and collectors become more difficult due to increased numbers of troopers especially when they all berserk and waves with extra 2 hunters also become more interesting

Due to the spawn budget/wave composition not being changed, it does not impact much except for possibly a faster game. 15 might be also interesting as that would mean 3 full spawn spots, forcing some to spawn in glacier off normal expectations

^For max enemies, where do you find that?  Was that in bioai with some of the other global stuff, or is it set by level / wave in Retaliation?

Its inside the normal coalesced not the dlc bin files. Can't remember the exact key name and i have no access to the game currently. Will update the thread with the key name later when i get access to it if no one provides the answer before that

Well duh...   ;)

But Marksmad actually made a good point (for once) on page 2 about gold only being too easy for top players. We haven't played in a while Angel, but I'm pretty sure you fit into that category now. You have to remember that the majority of players, some even on BSN, aren't as good as you and actually find gold a fair enough challenge.

Honestly my advice would be to play more platinum, but if want to make it more challenging, follow Clyde's advice and play more solos and duos. Even trios with sub-optimal builds are more fun. Try to play pug lottery in a trio, copying the loadout of the fourth pug that joins. Run games with specific rules, like common weapons only or dead is dead and do what you can to not only nerf yourself, but everyone in the lobby, because even one good player with an OP kit is gonna destroy most gold spawns.

Most importantly, try to find ways to keep gold fun for you, because it's probably always going to feel too easy from now on.  :)

If gold is so easy, go ahead and play plat all day and stop whining about it on the forums. If you're struggling to find things to kill on gold regardless of who you're playing with, you're just not as efficient a killer as you think. It really is that simple.
