Gold is fun to play. Platinum I used to enjoy a year ago but I always preferred Gold. I don't play this 3 hours a night any more just a couple of games every other night.
So I'm not as good as I used to be and I was never that good anyway 
The only reason I sunk 1200 hours into this game was because it was the most fun I'd had, when you take away the fun there really isn't a reason to play other than habit and friends. If certain friends stopped playing it I probably would too.

Gold is quite fun - and challenging - for using unorthodox builds, and such. And if you really think Gold is easy, wait until you've played one of my custom Gold games. (*PC, of course) 
Overall, I find regular Gold games pretty easy, as well. I know Lady Abtract a little bit from Youtube, and I know she's a standup person, no troll.
To her, I would say...try some funky builds or dust off some characters you haven't played much. To keep things fresh, I do that quite a bit these days. I've abandoned certain OP characters or set-ups completely. For instance, I will only use the Harrier TGI for those hardcore custom wave mods I've created, since I - need - the stimpacks to stay up on my feet 
During regular games - which is like 90% of the time - I try to mix it up as much as I can.

Ok, its in biogame/sfxgamempcontent/sfxwave/horde/maxenemies under the coalesced.bin file.
You can also change the max/spawn point to discourage easy killstreaks. I'm changing it to 12 enemies/4 per spawnpoint which will give 3 spawn points significant firepower hence incoming fire from more sides.
Platinum/Ghost Hazard/Collectors, level 1 character, only one COMMON weapon allowed, no consumables.
You can try it on PC on a host with unlimited fps.
