There are limits on console achievements? Wow. Any idea what the criteria are?

I don't know all the details, but here is a link with some info (though it is a bit dated) http://www.xboxachie...-Explained.html

I also know that PS4 trophies have similar but slightly different requirements. Some of the limits are the total number of achievements, the max number of achievement points per achievement, the max number of achievement points per game and there are also some limits and reqs for what kind of action or trigger can qualify for an achievement.

I also know that XBLArcade games are held to different standards and limits, while full games can have 1000 achievement points, XBLA games can only have like 200 or 400.

I use this line every time.

I'm not sure if the Warden is clueless or just trolling?

But it's great.

I think it's a bit of both :P

Ah and "your spilled guts make me feel loved and accepted."

Get it done. Very much worth it, if you plan on playing again. The price you can sell Reaper's Cudgel for is ridiculous.

Pretty sure this issue was resolved in DA2/ME2 & 3, you get 1 romance achievement rather than an achievement for every individual romance like in Origins

Thanks. Yeah, if consoles have silly rules like that then they probably shouldn't burn achievements on different romances. At least, not on the consoles.

Some indie games like Transistor on the PS 4 have platinum trophies. Some published games like Child of Light don't. If there are rules I have no idea what they are.

since this is about achievements i will leave this here

I'd like to see a option where i can scrub all achievement progress if i desire, most of the time with Bioware games i install the game go through all choices get all achievements etc an basically play the game tirelessly then uninstall an go away for months at a time playing other games, then i revisit the games an what annoys me is having to link my account(not so much that) but then all previous achievements i attained being updated into my fresh install, good on paper an great for alot of ppl i guess, but when i revisit the game i do so to go an achieve again an work through it all, so a wee option to reset all achievements would be great

I'm fine with the romance achievements in DAO. Sure, some are more satisfactory to me than others but I still gained something in the process. I saw an aspect of their personality I wouldn't have seen otherwise.

Don't like somebody? get the romance achievement, cheat on them and dump them. Don't like Alistair a lot? Romance him, let Loghain live and let Anora execute him. If you leave a few quests undone you still have time to romance somebody else. And before anybody gets mad at me everything from 'don't like somebody?' forward is not my style. I myself happen to adore Alistair and would never do that.

I do understand why some people don't  like the romance achievements to be person based. Perhaps a closeness/meaningful relationship achievement instead? You have to get to know somebody through conversation (can include one or two meaningful gifts such as mother's amulet, Andraste's Grace) to the point where they consider you a true friend, like when Morrigan calls you 'sister' at the Denerim gates. That's a meaningful relationship, it takes work and you don't have to romance her if you don't want to.

I would definitely agree that if there are limits to the number of achievements which can be listed for a particular console then the individual romance ones can go.

You know, if we don't have romance achievements-we're going to hear from the Romance Committee.

The best thing trophies and achievements ever did was have a setting to turn them off.

I loathe those little popups.

That said - as long as it's optional setting - go for your life.

This is exactly how I feel about it.  I have no idea with a general, "You've romanced someone.  Here's your achievement" thing.  I'm not a huge fan of the, "Now you've romanced him."  "Now you've romance her."  achievements.  It makes it feel a bit like a Pokemon thing.

Factually incorrect.

Just don't do the romance.

Trophies are pointless anyway, what do you care if you're missing one for content you don't want to do?

Just that. It's tacky and I don't want to have to do a romance just to ping a trophy.

You do realize you don't have to get every achievement right? And that removing an option because you don't want to take it is pretty selfish.

Usually just some combination of quantity and, if applicable, value (i.e. we can't make them all Gold Trophies and the like).

We got caught a bit with this on DAO, because we had a lot more achievements initially, and we also had the issue that some gameplay elements that required achievements (specializations, for example) to be unlocked.  So we ended up having some sort of hidden achievements that didn't actually give you proper achievements on the consoles, but still let the game work properly.
