ME3 multiplayer redeemed ME3.  ME3 had some very good parts to it but some huge disappointments as well.  ME3 mp gave me a lot of hours of good playing time.  The good thing is that with the success of me3 mp I think ME4 mp is going to be a full notch higher up in many ways.

Echoing this one big time. I'm still bitter about the single player, but the multiplayer has definitely softened the wound.

Let me guess...because of the endings :P

The Extended Cut fixed them quite nicely. I think it's time to put an end to that stupid joke.

And anyways, story-wise, I find ME2 way more annoying. Way too mundane and human-anthropocentric, especially everything about Thane.

I love the whole ME series. As far as the third, the MP part made up for the shiddy ending of SP.No matter how many bugs it has.

Great series of games, extended cut patched up a few thing so no major issues there. MP was pretty cool, the fabulous people I met playing this even more so...

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!  I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for ME2.  I haven't gone for more than 2 weeks without playing some version of Mass Effect since I picked up a dirt cheap copy of it in Oct 11.  I pre-ordered ME3, which remains the only game I've ever bought or played on day-of-release.

My first ME3 playthrough was with one of my FemShep characters who had Thane as love interest, and his death scene had me on the brink of tears, which was a first for me because of a game.  They did actually flow a bit the first time I reached the ending (red), but that was a slightly more complicated experience with a huge variety of emotions.  Favourite game(s) ever for me, without any doubt.  Whatever it's called, I'll hopefully be playing the next installment on day of release too.

You know what's just as annoying as everybody claiming Bioware shot their dog with the ending?

People who go "lawl ending was fine, suck it up babby nerds".

OT: I agree; on the whole it's a really enjoyable experience, even if my urge to replay 3 sort of dies off after finishing Citadel.

The original ending? Wooof.  <_< But, Bioware, being awesome, released the extended cut for free and I went, "Yeah. Okay, we can play together again now."

Multiplayer has always been awesome. Sure, I disagree with some of the balancing, but taken as a whole, for a "simple horde mode" it has surprisingly deep customization options. You can be a Krogan. A KROGAN! Not just one, but several. Not to mention all of the other races.

Yeah, it's been fun. Even wiping with newbs who shouldn't be in Silver, much less Gold.

The original ending wasn't fine, and I don't mind admitting that. But the EC fixed them. Now they're all decent. So stop that bad joke. Seriously.

I haven't ended my current playthrough with the Extended Cut just yet, though I know the gist of it. Hard to erase that original BS though.

Maybe my mind will change when I finish.

They're better, but decent? That's a matter of opinion, dude. The original ending was not the single solitary bone I saw fit to pick with the game as a whole, and the fact that Bioware released EC (at all) for free? I respect that, regardless of whether I like them or not.

Or you can keep misunderstanding that whole "difference of opinion" thing and thinking everybody who hates or feels indifferent to the endings are doing it for a laugh. That's fine too.

Well, if having 3 kind of different endings, with several sub-endings depending of your EMS isn't enough for you, then I wonder what's necessary to fill that spoiled attitude.

I mean, the default number of endings for practically all games I've ever played has always been 1. In comparison, ME3 EC is a paradise.

"I know what'll shut them up! I'll just say they're spoiled because (quantity)!"

Yeah no, that's a terrible argument. If I'm presented with three flavors of ice cream I don't enjoy, I'm not going to say "well I have to eat them all and enjoy it now, or otherwise starving people in Africa blah blah blah not eating it makes me part of the problem".

You seem to have a bigger problem with this topic than I do. I'm not telling you that you should hate the endings and give your copy of ME3 a thermite-fueled viking funeral or anything. Let me be me and I'll let you be you.

Nothing you say or try to spin will ever change the fact that, in the end.. all those choices we made through the games had no value on the end result and we were led to believe they would. This is my gripe.. and that the ending was over-simplified with stupid starchild being the answer to everything. That's as bad as the ending of Contact for f0ck's sake.

The series deserved a knockdown, drag out space battle with a pivotal ground battle ala Return of the Jedi. We got.. a holographic little boy that took all the dimension, depth and substance of the Mass Effect trilogy.. then swept it under the rug to be forgotten. It really was some weak chit.

ME1 = Ok above average with some serious annoyances (elevator and driving up slopes). Kaidan and Ashley were annoying as hell so it was nice i could nuke them. Too bad couldn't nuke the both of them. Really, having Wrex, Garrus, Liara and Tali was sufficient to save the galaxy.

ME2 = Fantastic. Great characters, strong story, strong ending, fast paced and turnaround play with Joker. Let down slightly by the forced plot in making everyone leave the normandy. This setup chapter was extremely good, as it allowed ME3 to build on those characters. LoSB was enjoyable and closed a hole with the Liara situation.

ME3 = Fantastic x2 up until anderson bled out (damn bleeder, never bought a jumbo pack). Characters built up from ME2 started dropping. Fantastic x3 with the various DLCs. Multiplayer = amazing longevity. That was the reason for the massive head desk on the 3 colours. Extended if it came out with the original game would have helped but the original ending was dumb x dumb x dumb.

All the ME games are great; I finished each one a couple of times, and I haven't done that with many other games.  The ME3 ending was not as dramatic as I expected, but MP made up for it in a big way.  MP is still fun to play; I haven't gotten bored yet.  Kudos to Bioware for setting the bar higher for the whole gaming world.

Good call, OP!

This was sort of my reaction. I mean, even for those who don't like the EC endings, at least they have to acknowledge that precious few game developers would respond to fan's discontent over endings by bringing the programmers and voice actors back in to make a BUTTLOAD of additional content to try to remedy the issue.

What original ending? I've been playing since before demo and I always recall the shuttle pilot saying the same thing. You guys talking about a different game?
