Hi!

This is more of an information than a question:

So I was editing my cave system, rendering lightmaps, and slowly going crazy - no matter what I did the cave walls never looked as smooth as the ones in the base game. I tried adding more baked lights to "smooth out" the illumination, but that didn't help either. Also, I checked the level sources for BioWare's levels and they didn't use too many lights, either.

So I went ahead and looked through the LightMapper.py script, and lo and behold:

# TODO: Normals are not currently getting to Yafray. Lightmaps would look much better with them, though

Well, d'oh. No wonder my caves look like they come out of a lego set.

I already created a feature request on the wiki, as this is kind of important:

http://social.biowar...or_Lightmapping

Ciao, muh!

I don't know much about how lightmaps are calculated, but I'll take your word on it. I suppose it explains why you tend to have a lot of walls with abnormal lighting in a cave area.
