Just started playing so not asking for details, but I wondered if your morality/actions affect squadmates' affection? Or as long as you treat THEM well, that's good enough?

In a lot of Bioware games some companions don't like you metaphorically kicking puppies while some do. Wondered if that's the case here. :)

EDIT: I tried reading the wiki on morality and found nothing about ME1 specifically. I didn't wanna read about individual companions because ... well I don't know who they are yet and don't wanna know until I get them.

No. They will follow you and for the most part agree with your decisions (or at least go along with your decisions) regardless of your morality.

OK, that's the impression I was getting but nice to get confirmation without risking more spoilers. Thank you very much. :)

The only thing that affects their behavior towards you involves some romance issues. There are certain dialogue options you can chose that will make it so you cannot romance the character. Sometimes it is difficult to know which they are and you end up with them thinking you are interested in them even if you are not. Other than that, they don't seem to care if you are a jerk or not.

You were supposed to be able to push one of them more renegade or paragon, but it ended up only mildly affecting dialogue in ME2.

the only annoying forced romances would be Ashley & Liara. I hate those two.

This can be completely avoided

The Liara romance is easily avoided. There is a clear "I am not interested in you" option (or something to that effect). It is the center option when she asks you if you are interested in her.

Spoiler tags only because I remembered that you weren't interested in details, so I'll just leave this here in case you want to read it at some point.

Not 'easily' avoided since on of the options to turn her down (bottom one) is... bugged. And you get locked in romance with her lol. Happened to me, I was like WTF. You HAVE to pick middle option to turn her down.

Ashley is worse though. Liara dialogue chain at least gives you the straight question "do you want her or not", but unless you pick left "You're out of line" option during first Normandy conversation with Ash (about something completly unrealted to romance), you're gonna get locked whether you like it or not

It depends on certain circumstances, if your more renegade you get less squad interactions and depending on if you do certain squad mission they may change an outcome of some events. Pretty much just explore.

Your actions in missions do not affect squad loyalty (though some squadmates will express their doubts to you in private after the fact); this is mostly because the humans are your subordinates and therefore required to follow your orders, and the others have joined up with you specifically to stop Saren.

That being said, there is at least one renegade dialogue option that will upset a certain squadmate so much they'll refuse to talk to you ever again, except to remind you that they're now only still with you to stop Saren, and once that's over they're gone for good. Strangely enough, though, this does not seem to carry over into the sequels.

What option is that? PM to avoid spoilers or just use [spoiler] tag :)

My guess would be Tali and the geth data. Don't know for certain, though, since I have always given it to her.

Yep.

I refused to give it to her on my last playthrough and she told Shepard that once Saren is stopped, she will return to her pilgrimage
