I actually decided to play a City Elf after reading Masked Empire, as the book really goes into that whole aspect of DA. Its been lots of fun so far (only got the Landsmeet to go!)

We can't know for sure yet which origin will have the most impact in Inquisition. Just play what feels best for you. Do you like elves and plan to be elf friendly whenever possible in DAI? Play as an elf, etc. I personally have multible playthroughs that focus on a specific race each time.

Just as a precursor, I will mention (most likely unnecessarily) that currently we are unable to import any saves from DA:O and DA2, so you don't NEED to replay them to sort out your canon, which the Keep will be for. I'll certainly be replaying them before release, but I know a lot of people feel upset that they've "wasted" a lot of their time creating the perfect world state just to find that they can't do anything with it. Not that that's what you're trying to do, but just on the off chance I thought I would mention it.
The Human Mage origin is nice for its ties to DA2. The Human and Dwarf Noble are nice for their cultural significance to Ferelden. The Dalish Elf background is seemingly going to be Inquisition's default if you place any importance on that. And the City Elf Origin kicks ass just 'cause. The Dwarven Commoner and Elven Mage Origins never struck any chords with me, but every Origin is as significant or as important as you make it. After all, it's YOUR canon. I'm currently kicking myself for trading in my Canadian version already. It's a whole month before I get back home to Australia where I can go through Origins again.

It depends upon how you like to play.
The Cousland origin is the stereotypical fairy tale origin.
The Aeducan is less so, but has a great deal of depth.
The Brosca character actually gets sympathy from Morrigan (it's true!) and is very much rags to riches, in yo' face, sucka!
The Tabris is better as a woman, has a great deal of emotional impact and if you have any tendency to anger can fuel a blood soaked rage for most of the game.
The Surana is different from the Amell by race and the Amells have a role in DA2
Mahariel is your basic woodsy elf, but has one very bitter, sorrow filled moment late in the game. It's also a really good one to play with Witch Hunt.

The one that may affect future games the most: Human Noble Male
The one that is the best imo: City Elf Female
I never really play the other Origin's beyond Ostagar, because if I'm not playing a mage it's a Cousland, but the CE origin is probably my favourite. And beyond trying it as a male once to see the difference, I always play it as a female. It may or may not have had something to do with the awesome concept art leading up to Origins' release.

It depends what race and class you want. my personal favorite is the dalish. though with the mage/Templar war I like being a mage too

If you plan to romance Morrigan, I can't help but suggest Dalish Elf.
He has so much significance in Witch Hunt that it makes it all worth it, plus the Brecillion Forrest is a lot more interesting as a Dalish.
He also holds the most significance in 2. And with Morrigan said to be back for inquisition, and the Dalish significance to Eluvians in general, I think its the way to go. If you do so, Dark Ritual is a must if you ask me.

Siding with mages, templars maybe once or twice. Also depends on how they get represented too.
I did dark ritual every time except once (where I had everyone killed that I could kill.) Awakening pretty much considers warden doing the ritual more than not.

Human Noble is my favorite because it is the origin most connected to the main plot. Taking down Howe and Loghain isn't just about dealing with obstacles to ending the Blight, its also about getting justice or vengeance for your murdered family.
You also don't have a reason to side with Harrowmont (unlike the Dwarf noble) so you can put the better choice (Bhelen) on the throne.

1)Love the Origin story
2) The Fade
3) Show Thedas that an elf and mage can be awesome
4) Racial equality. I plan on being a Qunari mage in Inquisition and since Hawke is human it makes sense for elves to have their turn in the spotlight.
5) Dwarves can't do magic. Except Sandal of course.

My favorite is Male Human Noble that ruthlessly carves his path to the Throne. The best for Origins and beyond is Dalish Elf. A long time ago I had a Dalish that did the Ultimate Sacrifice, but got Morrigan pregnant the old fashion way. That should be one hell of a World State.

As has been said by most people, Human Noble would probably have the biggest impact on the plot of Origins, and the biggest impact on an overall level, assuming you make your noble a monarch by marrying Anora or Alistair.
Human Mage probably has the second biggest impact because of the Amell connection to DA2, but that is about it, the other origins don't really have much more of an impact outside of ending the fifth blight and possibly becoming warden commander.
My favourite origin, which I believe to be the "best," and that I used for my canon playthrough, is Dwarf Noble. I love the culture and lore behind the dwarves, and I also like the story arc of being exiled to die, surviving, returning to decide the future direction of the dwarven kingdom and restoring your son's caste, as well as becoming a Paragon for ending the fifth blight.

I am a militant Dwarfist but I have to agree that there is no "best" Origin. They all have their merits and it really depends on your own personal tastes.

Dwarf Noble > Human Noble > City Elf > Magi/Dalish (it's a tie) > Dwarf Commoner
Kind of. I really like them all, but I connected with my female sword & board Aeducan the most, after my vengeful Tabris rogue. HN ties in the most with Origins as a standalone, bit Dalish has more of a reach through the expansions and the sequels.

In my opinion the best are the Human Noble and the Dalish Elf. The Dalish has quite a bit of material not only in Origin, but in Awakening and Witch Hunt as well and get's referenced by Merrill in DA2. The Human Noble's the classic hero who's the only one who can become offical royalty and (at least if it's a he) gets a funny call back in Awakening involving Nathaniel's sister.
