I plan on having both my Warden and Inquisitor be Dalish too :D.  The Dalish was my favorite to roleplay in Origins, and I'd be curious to see what kind of references there will be with a Dalish Inquisitor.. hmmm

Yay, we can frolic together! B)  *Tree hug*

I am definitely going for.
1) Human male noble. Romance Morrigan. Try and get best possible outcome.
2) Mage Hawke. Romance Isabela. Support Mages.
3) Qunari Inquisitor (warrior/mage). Romance Cassandra.

Mage origin gives most perspective in mage and templar war that has been quite huge thing in DA2 and seems to be in DAI as well, he/she knows the problems that mages and templars face and what is like being a mage. Amell also connects DAO and DA2 most together by being cousin of Hawke so your heroes are connected if you want that.

Elf origins gives more view in problems that elves face, elven rebellion probaply plays some part in DAI but you don't see it in DA2. Dwarf origins gives you insight mostly in the problems that dwarfs face, since they are quite isolated bunch they at least for me feel somehow detached. I think human noble origin in other hand is pretty good in DAO, your family and you are already middle of power game of Ferelden and it gives you more satisfactory going against Loghain and Howe than other origins. However human noble gives more insight in the Ferelden, not into further games and situation there.

So in my opinion mage origins would be best ^^;

Talking about all the different origins makes me kinda sad that the vast majority of players played as a human noble male only & didn't bother with anything else :(

It's hard to know what origins will have a bigger impact come DI. Like the others have said, the most likely to have a large impact would be mage, as there is the option to give the Fereldan tower back to the mages to control, and if you play human you are related to Hawke. Human Noble should have a big impact...I mean your character could be the King or Queen... but given that the throne can be ruled by a different combo of Allistair/Anora/Warden, it might be a case of too many variables.

In the past, I've played through a new game in the series and seen where the big impacts were then gone back and replayed previous games, ready for my "canon" playthrough :)

My canon warden was a female Human Mage and I liked the link with the mages/templars conflict and Hawke. With Carver in the wardens and fade tears opening everywhere, I felt like the story was really coming together. Can't say it's the most involved origin though, especially not knowing what DAI will be like.

My second favourite was Castless Dwarf. I couldn't really get into the other origins. Human noble seemed bland (stopped at Ostagar), Dwarf Noble was interesting, City Elf didn't cut it for me, and I really dislike the Dalish

This might sound weird, but I kinda liked that with the casteless dwarf origin, the mother was not the typical understanding rpg parent. It was a type of mundane evil I couldn't recall ever having seen for a protagonist in rpgs.

Personally, my favorite Origin would have to be the Dwarf Noble and Dwarf Commoner. Dragon Age is by far the only rpg that ever really convinced me to roll a dwarf and make the race exciting for me. Plus, my best playthrough was my Dwarf Commoner, which was a true rags to riches to sacrifice story. Most of my PCs are humans followed by elves though considering I really don't like playing as short, squat people. Plus the bulk of the LIs are humans save Zev, so human PCs seem more fitting. But Origin wise the dwarves have the best in my own humble opinion.

I'd say Human Noble is the most stereotypical fantasy Origin, so if you're going for something really basic then I'd go with that. It's also the only option for non-Mage humans. Human Mage has a nice touch for Hawke (namely Mage Hawke) in DA2. Elven Mage is probably the most insignificant and least impactful (though those bonus points in Willpower + Magic don't hurt at all).

I have a canon for each Origin though so its no biggie. My top 3 are Dwarf Commoner (Male), Human Noble (Female) and Human Mage (Male).

I think they still matter in general terms.. you're basically two of the most persecuted groups in Thedas. Two that are causing huge conflicts atm. And you save the world, despite that. Plus, it's kind of cool to be an elf who discovers some lost lore (like Arcane Warrior). Human Arcane Warriors are just posers. :P

I think the Amell connection is a cool idea, but it's not as impactful as it seems on paper. It just doesn't matter much. None of them really do, b ut I think if there's any origin that plays out well in DA2, it's the Dalish.

This is true. Just in Origins being an elf mage really didn't feel as much of an impact, but I'm probably thinking of the gameplay/dialogue in Origins and DA2 too much.

And the Dalish Origin was great in DA2. I think if any Origin really impacted DA2 it was that one. Come to think of it it seems the only one other than the Amell Mage that was referenced.

That makes sense, isn't the dalish warden supposed to be the default canon. They want to make sure people just using the default get a little mention.

Best origin

I'd probably go with City Elf but it would be a close call with the dwarven noble.

My first character was a Dalish elf and I will bring his story line over. But I think the one with the most impact would be Female Human Noble. Since you can marry Alistair and become queen.

I'm sure it's been posted before but does anybody know how story data will transfer from the old generation. I want to get this on xbox one but it would be no point if my stories can't carry over.

Ya know I'm seriously thinking of doing a city elf origin. I've done everybody but that. And when I finally did I accidentally deleted it.

That's an interesting question. Not sure of the answer myself. Perhaps it'll just use the Dragon Keep, just like the next gen platforms.

Eh, I used to see **** like that all the time. I'd rather not have it follow me to rpg land. But hey, to each their own.

Because if it won't transfer to the one I might as well get it for xbox 360.

I really hope I can do as many characters as I want

Casteless Dwarf all the way. It's really interesting, there's a few fun comments on your dwarfitude, and taking your helmet off in front of the crowd was my first fistpump moment.

...Although I think all of the origins have pros and cons. It's just that dwarves are the best. And out of the dwarves, Brosca wins.

This is what the wiki said about imports:

http://dragonage.wik...ge:_Inquisition

Mike Laidlaw confirmed the ability for players to import their save files, or alternatively their "world-states," from the first two games into Dragon Age: Inquisition to "shore up world consistency."[28] Mark Darrah later stated that BioWare is looking into creating ways to include choices made in previous titles without the need for a Save File transfer system, as well as a method to import save files across console generations.[11]
On August 28, 2013, it was announced that players will be able to create their own specific canon and customize all important decisions from previous games in a cloud-based system called Dragon Age Keep. This new system will also solve plot logic issues that occurred when importing save-games in previous titles.[29][30]

The Keep system aims to allow the player to customize cross-generational and cross-console world-states, ideally circumventing import bugs or other issues. According to Mark Darrah, BioWare is looking into the possibility of traditional save game transfers via the Keep, as well.[31] Unconnected consoles will not be able to access the Dragon Age Keep,[32] though it will be able to be downloaded onto a PC or tablet initially and then introduced to a console.[33]

Players who do not have or choose not to import a world-state into Inquisition will be provided a default "canon" as in Dragon Age II: an "Ultimate Sacrifice" Dalish Warden, Alistair made King, and Hawke a mage who sided with the mages in DA2.[34] Mark Darrah and Aaryn Flynn indicated as well that choices from Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening and other DLC will also impact playthroughs.[35][36]

Dwarven Noble is my personal favorite, I just loved running around Orzammar as a spoiled princess.

What I'm trying for:

Female dwarf noble warrior Warden. Romance Leliana. Save the mages, elves, & Connor. Put Bhelen on the Throne. Destroy the Anvil. Alistair does the ritual.

Female warrior Hawke. Free mages without killing anyone unnecessarily. Romance Fenris. Side with Templars. Let Anders live and help. Become Viscount.

Male dwarf warrior Inquisitor. Romance Cassandra…. beyond that idk.
