There's something I REALLY have to get off my chest about this game's story.

You say that AS you related to the 10 page essay example from your college days.

In all seriousness, of course it does. Vendetta should've said "The Reapers continue to harvest your species by the hour" or something like that.

Using the word "complete" when it's only been no more than 2-3 months, doesn't make a lot of sense.

Precisely. I've said that I'm getting ready to complete an essay when I've only had a page or two and an outline.

And no, it doesn't. As I said in my edit, it's indicative of a switching of phases.   They have a few pages done, and they've got an outline.

Almost Finished =/= Preparing to Complete.

If you have an outline you still need to go through the processes. Which takes time. Will the information you have from your outline even translate exactly the way you want it onto paper and fill up all ten pages? Or does it just give you a really good idea on what you're going to say? In fact let's forget about the essay and come up with a better example. Video game development. What video game company is really going to say "We're preparing to complete our game because we have our outline done"?

So the Reapers moved the Citadel to Earth. "Oh we're preparing to complete the harvest." Oh well slow down there chuck, exactly how much of Earth's population remains? Have you attacked every town and major city? Do you know where all the humans on Earth are hiding? How about you wait til the vast majority of Earth is dead before you start making such claims.

We know from what we read from the Codex entries that Capital Ships can be destroyed conventionally, so it wouldn't have been lore breaking to show Sword Fleet kick some major A at least for the beginning of the battle. I've had a person ask me before would it really have made that much of a difference if they showed you a few Capital Ships get destroyed, and honestly, yeah it would. I knew we couldn't win conventionally, but if they had showed Sword Fleet actually take down a good portion of the Reaper fleet at Earth, I would've felt a lot more satisfied with that battle. At least then I would've seen some of my work pay off. Showing is more effective than telling.

The turians did down some capital ships near Palaven, so it's clear that they're not actually invincible. But I agree it's a shame that you don't see those ships actually being destroyed on camera.

I thought it was pretty obvious, in context, that Vendetta was referring to the point at which the harvest would become merely a matter of processing rather than military action. How many human colonies remain unoccupied by the time this line is spoken?

But yeah, if you try and read the line literally, I can see how it would be confusing.

Doesn't help that ME is a 3rd person cover shooter; you're not exactly going to pop out of cover to shoot a two-kilometer long monstrosity with your assault rifle. From the beginning ME introduced a tension between story and gameplay that, while not unsolvable, was not in fact solved by the end of the series.

Who didn't try though? :D

Yeah, we do get a chance to take a potshot at Sovereign right at the beginning of ME1.

Well, the Reapers weren't the ones making these claims, though.  It was the reactionary VI representative of a harvested species, who was initially ready to just bail on Shepard and the cycle due to the mere presence of the Reapers.
