Hi folks,

after a lot of searching  and stumbling upon one set/collection of textures after another I finally ended up using the textures in this thread by Antarius.

I started the game (looks awesome and better than unmodded) and have made it to Mars only to realise I hadn't installed MEHEM.

Now I have the problem of MEHEM not loading due to default.sfar being the wrong size.

The only solution seems to be restoring that file to vanilla condition and then installing MEHEM.

If I do that though then I'm assuming I have to apply every modded texture again - or at least the ones related to Leviathan and the Extended Cut?

If I restore the original default.sfar file without reapplying the modded textures afterwards will those textures just revert back to the original textures or be broken completely and appear as black?

I'm just not sure if it's worth the trouble just to have a happy ending?

It's my first play though and I'm thinking maybe I should just play it as it was originally intended and then play it with MEHEM some other later time when I feel up to the whole mod application process again and can install things in the right order.

Yes, the modding order atm is generally as follows:

- Content mods

- PCC mods

- Texture & mesh .mods

- Texture tpf's

That way you are 100% sure you don't overwrite previously modified content.

The mod packages for the content mods are constantly being updated and improved upon, so you can likely expect the installation process of mods to become more transparent and compatible in the future, but for the moment that is the 'golden rule'.

The reverted PCC's (and/or SFAR) should display the vanilla textures.

A lot of people like it, I found it jarring.

It's not really different of imaging your own cut-scenes, except that your own delusions don't take the form of reused cut-scenes from ME2 and ME3; I'd rather play it unmodded.

That said, its value is probably higher for people who didn't romance Liara.

I think playing it with just the Extended Cut is a good idea. You can decide for yourself then. Plenty of people liked the EC endings and some the original endings.

If you do change your mind in the future, there's also John's Alternate MEHEM which only affects one ending a bit and leaves the others almost completely intact.

Thanks all for your helpful replies! :)

I had started doing a manual install of MEHEM but got to a point where I couldn't go any further.

So I tried just to restore the files I'd replaced with those of the manual MEHEM and just play ME3 with the vanilla Extended Cut but I ran into a problem where ME3 would start and then crash due to some error.

So I've started over from the beggining lol but this time I'm going with JohnP's Alternate MEHEM and hopefully installing things properly now.

This is the list and order of what I'm going with:

ThaneMOD v1C

JAM Installer .exe-265-1-0

Skip Security Scan v2-149-2

Dianna Allers BeGone-254-1-0

Varren Mod-259-1-0

Clear Face N7 Helmet Mod - Shep Kaiden James Ash-164-3

Textures (77 individual &/or in packs)

Nvidia 3D Vision fixes

Smarteck actual illumination MOD

The one thing I am slightly still unsure about now is in ME3 explorer does each subsequent texture installed overwrite a previous texture if it's applying to the same thing - say I install character texture overhaul and then high resolution Kaidan and high resolution default male Shepard will the latter two overwrite the character texture overhaul textures?

Aditionally if I load and install textures at the same time in the tpf window does each subsequent texture listed overwrite the previous in the list if there is an overlap?

Right now there's not a good way to install textures with the DLC version Mehem (JohnP's). If you want both, install the regular MEHEM, do a tree scan then you can install textures over that. Otherwise, you'll have to bear with texmod.

Just to clarfiy you're saying with JohnP's Mehem you have to use texmod which temporarily replaces the texture file rather than with permanently replacing the textures via ME3 Explorer.

And with regular MEHEM you can install textures over the top after doing the treescan thing (which I did do because I followed Otte's workshop on first time setup of ME3).

Thanks for the headups on this! :)

This is for revision 648.. Awaiting clarification from ME3 Explorer forums but they are taking their sweet time.

JohnP: Updated AutoTOC to also work with completely unpacked DLC since we can add mods as DLC now. Detects whether TOC being generated is for main game or DLC.

Questions asked: -

Do i still need to include the DLC folders with the initial treescan in Texplorer with 648?

I'm asking as i am not sure if this is needed with this revision and there has been some confusion as to how we add the new dlc based mods being released.. Do they go in before the treescan or after it?

We know the treescan has issues with the new DLC method but hopefully this can be verified/rectified by the Explorer guys... Maybe LOL

We have a response: -

The crux of the question here is: Do you want to edit textures in those new DLC mods? If so, then they need to go in before treescan. Now the reason I wrote it like that, is because I don't know much about the cool new toy so I'm guessing that it will work without issues.
You'll get things saying that files are modified and stuff, but you can ignore them if you are certain that nothing outside those new DLC mods.
And if that first thing is a question, then you don't need to include DLC if you don't want, but then DLC textures won't be modified and might override your modified textures with old ones, depending on the load order.

I am going to try a full vanilla install and a new dlc inclusive treescan and see what happens

Yep. It's logical, anything added after you treescan in therms of DLC will not be moddeable via the toolset, that goes for original or custom content.
As custom DLC content like this is brand spanking new, KFreon wouldn't know how treescan responds to it. It SHOULD work, it might not. These parts are written independently by different coders in the end so they might not work together 100% straight off the bat. Will have to try it out and see.

Looks like a no-go at the moment for scanning with Texplorer.
Hanging on the new DLC at DLC_CON_JAM\CookedPCConsole\Biod_CitHub_Underbelly.pcc

It did however scan three other files in the folder correctly before hanging on that file.

Texplorer did come up with this > DLC Date file not found

Gather all the errors in screenshots if you can and throw them up for KFreon so he can have a look =)

I think it would be good if they manage to put the texture mods themselves in a dlc installation format as well, probably would install the textures more quickly and would be easier to un-do. We'll see how things shake out, have patience everyone, we're on the bleeding edge of modding me3 here.  :)
