Well in all fairness game companies almost always over exaggerate the length of their games. Didn't BioWare say Dragon Age was around 80 hours?
Ok. Exactly what does that have to do with either of our comments? Bioware hasn't given ANY number yet for Awakening so I don't understand why you bring up the notion that companies exaggerate their game lengths.

Posté 23 janvier 2010 - 06:37
Awakening is an expansion pack and will no doubt be longer than 15 hours with replayability factors, i think it's worth the money.

If the xpac is as much a rip-off as the DLC has been (and I really don't believe it will be) I'll be very disappointed, and I'll know better next time.
I do have faith though. Bioware is one of 3 game companies that I truly believe in.

Bethesda and Bioware made sweet love we would have awesome love child games to play like Knights of the old elderscrolls and mass fallout.effect. Is it weird I day dream about game studios getting busy?
One of my wetdreams. A game with the story and characters of Bioware with a huge open world like oblivion/fallout 3. Ya Im 28 and doubt I will see it in my life.
Yes it is weird that you day dream about those things but it does not make it wrong.

Well at least your young enough to maybe get to see that, i am 62 and seriously doubt I will get to play either RTO or the Awakening, Actually I left my 400 bioware points to my son in my will in case the game comes out after I am gone...........................

Anyways, I'll echo previous posters: it's the same price as most expansion packs. Little surprise here. If you want a hint as to the content, look at the NWN expansions.

Why is it priced at $39.99, Bioware?
Honestly I don't really consider that price too high given my satisfaction level with DA:O. I'm a PC user who hasn't had all the game-stopping bugs others have reported. I've really experienced nothing of consequence. Any annoyances could be worked around. Anyway, I pre-ordered DA:O CE and loved it. I would pay $39 for the Expansion but between doing my homework and a friend being helpful I actually grabbed it for only $25 on pre-order. That makes the price for the Expansion roughly half the price for the full CE for me.
Now, unfortunately, we've had some DLC delays with DA:O but they seem perfectly legitimate and the pricing also seems reasonable to myself and many others. Yeah, I know all about the people who don't agree. We ALL know. How could we not know? The Expansion for DA:O is bigger than just a DLC and should have a bigger impact on the game as a whole. More work, more development, more cost.
At present BioWare is taking quite a bit of heat over bugs, delays, etc, from people with some of it being deserved, some simply insane, and some being pure trolling. I sincerely do hope BioWare delivers a quality Expansion so the critics can be silenced. If the Expansion suffers major issues be it a delay, bugs, or simply not being something people feel was worth the money then that hurts all future Expansions and DLCs in the eyes of the consumers, IMHO. Some people will buy all the stuff regardless, some people already know they won't, and some people are on the fence.
BioWare produced a heck of an amazing product with DA:O. BioWare has to keep the eye on the ball with this. This is crucial.

I think it kinda sucks that I paid $40 for the whole game for the PC
and that the expansion (Which adds considerably less than the original
game when compared) is also the same price.

$40? $40! I payed around $70 including tax and all that. Obviously I got the Collector's Edition, but still. Not to mention the $7 I threw down for Warden's Keep. You got off easy my friend, I have more right to **** and moan than you.
That said, I'm not complaining. When Awakening comes out I'll go out and buy it. Many, myself included, wanted an expansion pack. I'm just glad they are even making one. $30-40 is the norm for expansions. Don't see why people are all hot and bothered about the price.
Edit:
I think everyone is fixated on the length of the expansion. Since when did gaming become about length? Shouldn't it be about enjoying the experience?

What I want to know is, honestly, how long is it going to complete. I think most people had an average first play through of DAO of about 40-60 hours - some less and some more depending on how you played. Considering the expansion is about 10-20 dollars less than the full retail game depending on your market and where you purchase it, I expect no less than 20-40 hours of honest game play, preferably more.
Agreed. I'm perfectly happy to pay that sort of money even for an expansion half the size of the original game which would mean at least 20 hours long. However if its less gameplay than that i just wont buy it until it hits the bargain bins, if at all. Most people will have had one or two playthroughs by that stage and there will need to be something special in the xpansion to make it worth playing through all over again.
I got Stone Prisoner free with a redemption code but i would have balked at paying any more than a couple quid/bucks for that DLC because it added at most a couple of extra hours. So if i agreed to pay 1 dollar per hour of original content then i would be happy to pay $100 for 100 hours of original content.

Bioware flat out lied about the length of DA, expect more of the same for x-pac. 15 hours = 10 maximum.
please. go back to your grinding game with all the other 5 year olds and leave the grown up games to the grown ups. You can easily take 80 hours to play this game on one play through if you choose to. Plus it says x amount of hours gameplay. It never says x amount on one playthrough. If you actually go through all the dialogue in the game and do all the origin stories it would be fairly simple.
