please. go back to your grinding game with all the other 5 year olds and leave the grown up games to the grown ups. You can easily take 80 hours to play this game on one play through if you choose to. Plus it says x amount of hours gameplay. It never says x amount on one playthrough. If you actually go through all the dialogue in the game and do all the origin stories it would be fairly simple.

lol, another blind Bioware sycophant getting mad, how cute. Maybe if you didn't go afk while the game was running or read as fast as a 5 year old, maybe you'd realize this game is 50-60 hours at MOST. Reading responses from mad Bio fanbois is hilarious, grats on dumb.

I wouldn't consider the price too high, especially if there is high replayaility like there is in DAO. I think I've spent over 200 hours on the game so far......

I figure two hours worth of 'work time' for a xpac that could have 10-15 hours of playtime, with replayability would be totally worth it. Cheaper per-hour entertainment than going to the movies.

Two hours of work time? I want your pay. xD

Btw, 10-15 hours is about the same size as most single player games that have been coming out, and this is just an expansion.

I don't know, I am a super fast reader, and on my first playthrough (okay, my first time with a 'real' RPG game), I only did about half the side quests, I did do a lot of wandering around (I got lost a lot, I'm not known for good sense of direction, plus I like exploring), and I feel like I plowed through it so I could get to the ending before I had to leave for two weeks for work......(had game on PS3, of course purchased and dowloaded for my laptop while on assignment :) )

I spent about 55 hours on the game....and that was without saving and trying diff convo/choice options.

Maybe if you're a 'straight through' gamer, or a really good expereinced gamer, I could see the game not taking so long......but for people like me, casual gamers (obsessed casual gamer) and those that like to explore and immerse themselves in the world, it can take a lot longer....

love this game, and looking forward to the xpac. Figure it will come out just as my DAO obsession is waning and get me all addicted again. (so glad I dodn't know about video games in college, I had enough of an issue with maintaining GPA with MUCKs and the like. Ah the days of Unix and teleport)

Actually I read fairly fast, and the game lasted me 79 hours. Also, given that the lines are spoken, it's not a matter of reading speed really. Sure, the game is gonna last you less if you press esc like mad, but you can'y complain about games that don't last as much as you'd want if you skip content.

Oh wait... i should really read the name of the one i'm writing to before bothering to respond...

I don't see where I am getting mad? You can't say they blatantly lied when there are a number of people who have spent a considerable amount of time on one playthrough. I will re-iterate, if you play through all the origin stories and actually take your time to immerse yourself in the story and do the sidequests it is quite easy to make the gameplay hours they quoted.

All the posts I have seen from you have been negative toward this game, and you really don't seem to be the kind of person who wants/understands an immersive rpg experience, which is what this game is. So - go back to WoW and have fun grinding.

Bioware flat out lied about the length of DA, expect more of the same for x-pac. 15 hours = 10 maximum.

Bull.  There hare all kinds of posts on these forums proving people have gotten over 100 hours into the game and 80 hours is common.  Just because you rushed through it like it was some kind of timed raid doesnt mean Bioware lied. It just means you skipped a lot of content. Your loss.

40 bucks is a damn ripoff for an expansion that more than likely won't compare in complexity or length as the original. Hell, new copies of Dragon Age can be found for as low as 30-40 bucks around here and online.

Might as well wait until it drops to $30 or, dare I dream, $20. Besides it really doesn't offer anything "new" that's not already in the main game. More characters, more story, more items, blah blah blah.

Yes, $20 would be a fair price for a 15 hour expansion, methinks.

Oh? So you know the estimated length of the game before it's even been annouced by Bioware.

Well in all fairness game companies almost always over exaggerate the length of their games. Didn't BioWare say Dragon Age was around 80 hours?

All depends who is playing it..my first playthrough was 110 hours, but I was taking my time reading everything etc.  hehe

Hmmm. just because I pay for it dosn't guarantee it'll be quality though, does it?

If the original game hadn't been priced at £20 on the day i bought it, I wouldn't have bought it. (it did jump back up to £40 a few days later mind.) I have paid for the DLC also... there is no way I'm paying more than I have already paid for an expansion!?!!! that's just daft. Well, I guess if its overpriced, less people will buy it, therefore it will drop in price fairly quickly, and I can certainly wait, sigh.

Does anyone else think that if PC games were cheaper than their convenient console cousins, less people would decide to just DL for free as soon as someone cracks it? I could be wrong I suppose, I mean I have my principles but £FULLGAMEPRICE.00 for an 'Expansion' is a little too much for me to swallow. My Laptop barely meets the reqs anyway so I wouldn't be getting the 'full' product. At least with consoles you are guaranteed all the bells and whistles.

Just a thought...

OOOOoooppsss I've just seen it for £19.99 from Steam thats fair enough i guess I shall now eat my words....

why does that always happen to me!?

If it's the same easy mode this game has been since release i'll just skip it and swallow the $50 i spent on a game that was supposed to have some difficulty to it but never delivered.

pc games generally are cheaper than their console counterparts. At least in both New Zealand (where I am from) and in Canada and the US (where I currently reside) they are.

And no, I don't really think that the price being cheaper than consoles would affect people buying it vs pirating it. Some people will always be pirates. I actually played this game the first time on a friend's pc not realising it was pirated. But once I played it I decided I would buy it, a: because it was a great game and b: because as one of only 2 or 3 decent pc game developers left Bioware deserved my money and they have always produced good games. I do wish that more demos would be released on pc though, as I am sure there are a few people who may consider buying it but not want to pay for it until they try it. They pirate it, decide they like it but not enough to put money down, so they just play the pirated version.

And the consoles don't get all the bells and whistles. For starters they don't get the toolset or the ability to use mods. They also don't get the bird's eye view - and if you are an rpg fan this is pretty much a pre-requisite.

Because ...

that's the typical price for an expansion?

have you tried the difficulty mods? Or playing solo? Were you playing the game on the nightmare setting?
