Mabari hounds, in my opinion, are a staple of the series.  It's not quite a Dragon Age game without them.  Mabaris need to be in Inquisition, but other pets aren't really necessary.  Warhounds and mounts fill a similar role, but they have an actual purpose in gameplay.  Pets are one of those gaming luxuries.  They're nice to have, but they are far from necessary.  I would rather see those resources go into other areas of gameplay instead of making pet cats.

I think the ability to have a herd of horses would be really cool--I really enjoyed the Skyrim mod that let me do that. But then again that might be because I was really lonely in Skyrim.

Yeah, I always used a follower that could summon something, so my Dremora Lords would have some company. Hehe. Really, with the two of us and our summons, we were pretty much untouchable, and there was always someone or something talking. That made it much less lonely.

And then, two-thirds into the game, the Inquisitor shall come home to find the nug missing. And one of the companions going: "*burp* Sorry."

Hey you made that choice.  Its not like they made a dramatic scene where the Normandy is in a space battle and they cut to SHep's cabin where the fish tank suddenly explodes and you have them all lolling on the ground for air.

I would actually be content with just more Mabari hounds, but I really want to see some cats strolling around the cities. 

Some hawks or ravens would be cool, too. You know, if your inquisitor needs to send some letters to authoroties. That's probably unnecessary as heck, but still, i love my birdies and I've seen them rarely in video games.

Minions come to me and purr the enemy into submission! Meows and purrs shall conquer the world by all that it's cuteness!
