What happens if in the first act you complete every possible quest there is and you still dont have enough money for the expedition because you have wasted it in the blooming rose or something else?

I know you can make a deal with that dwarf guy but what if you take his money and waste it totally to something else? Will he just give more money like its nothing or will he attack you with daggers and such :D ?

I have no idea.

I'd like to know what happens as well.

The dwarf gives it directly to Bartrand, I think.. but in your name or something. I don't think you can actually spend it.

You will have the quest "Friends in Low Places" where Dougal Gavorn will send Bartrand 50 sovereigns, you can still get this quest even if you have enough money.
In Act 2 he will return to demand more money in the quest "Profit and Loss".

He sends the money to Bartrand,it doesn't go in your inventory,so you can't waste it.

Okay. That does sound reasonable. They propbaly had to think some way for the players to continue the story in case they dont collect enough money themselves.

I know. I´ve always managed to collect the money myself and "Friends in low places" still becomes available. I´ve never made the deal with him so I havent experienced "Profit and Loss"

"Friends in Low Places" gets initiated and completed the moment you give Bartrand the 50 sovereigns. On my first playthrough I got that quest because I was afraid to hand over the money out of fear Bartrand or Varric would run off with it. Varric rubbed me the wrong way when I first met him like he was one of those "Now I just need your credit card number" scammers.

Haha.. that's funny. I felt the same way when first meeting him. I don't think I even played much after that actually. It wasn't awhile until I tried again, and for some reason, I got hooked. And Varric won me over. I didn't have the best impression of Aveline either, but both of those two are my favorites now.

Same here. You can't judge a book by its cover, right? Varric with his open shirt, smooth personality, and eagerness for my money made me sure he was going to screw me over. But then I thought, "I know I don't end up killing him at least since he's narrating the story."

I found it ridiculous at first that Aveline, a city guard and then captain, would be accompanying me when I fully intended to break the law whenever possible. I thought she'd be repeatedly wagging her finger about it but she never did. She's very agreeable to unethical activities when it comes to her friends/rivals too like Isabela. She actually supported letting Kirkwall burn basically by letting Isabela keep the relic to give to a slaver as payment for freeing slaves. Then Aveline says nothing and gives friendship points (a bug?) for letting Castillon go with his slaver documents. So yeah, my early impression of her was off.
