"DA: I is said to be four to five times bigger than Dragon Age: Origins" quote from an Loadthegame.com article. Is this true/legit? I think they got it mixed up with Dragon Age 2 as far as the size comparison. Although this notion might not be farfetched since we heard bioware say that DAI is the biggest game that the studios have ever made.

I wish we can get an estimate in terms of hours of gameplay though, heres to hoping for more details at E3.

I'm pretty sure they said DAI will take 40-100 hours to complete, depending on your play style.

They did, though I cannot remember the exact number of hours required to finish the game right now

One level shown in the demo was larger than all of DA2, i dont see why it is sketchy to think that the game is that big

40 hours isn't that much.

It's how much I spent on Origins + all DLC.

You can watch the old PAX gameplay.

Well if they're taking some cues from open world games like TES, then I'm not surprised. I can spend 70-100 hours in those.

Man, I can't wait....

Whereas I spent about 90 hours on DAO alone.

Different play styles equals different rates of return.

Keep in mind that area size wise, DA:O wasn't very big by modern game standards. It used lots of isolated modules that had relatively narrow corridors.

You spend mostly time riding horse and collecting elfroots.

I can get DAO alone (no post game DLC) done in 40 hours, but that's without standing around much and fast forwarding lots of dialogue (I'm still pretty completionist with quests however. I don't leave anything undone in the quest log).

That's probably accurate, they've already said that the Crestwood area is bigger than all of DA2 combined but they actually consider that to be one of their smaller maps, besides DA2 was pretty small.

Also they've previously indicated at pax prime via Kotaku that they were likely on par or bigger than Skyrim in terms of square miles but they didn't measure it so that's more of an estimate than anything but still I'm expecting the map size to be somewhere's in between 15-25+ square miles.

As for content, the main quest and main side missions is estimated to be in between 40-50 hours with an estimated 100+ if you do and go everywhere in DAI according to Cameron Lee.

But from what I can remember(been a while since I've played DAO) It felt very big at times, especially in the deep roads. The size of DAI is not much a big to me as much as how much content is in it. If DAI has twice the amount of Content than DAO then I would be impressed. But to say that its just bigger doesnt say much to me because thats almost like filler content at that point. TES Daggerfall was one of the biggest games ever created, but there wasnt much content in the game itself which lead to a terribly paced and tedious experience.

I don't know how anyone could play all the origins from DAO in 40 hours. I hate to rush through any game. This had to have been one play-through and a lot of good stuff was surely missed.

Easily done. Just not if I include DAA/WH/Golems. I wouldn't even know how that's possible. That's like another 20 hours or more for me.

See thats the thing, if the "exploration" content feels generic and out of place compared to the main missions it would be a huge waste of time, bring down the pacing, and make peoples overall experieence worst. Its like you are taking a gamble with ur time, do I explore for another 50 hrs hoping to find something worth that time? To me thats more important to know then any news that they can put out, because we already know the main quest will have the highest quality, we know that all the other aspects of the game will be solid. Does the exploration feel like mini quest or just plain ole sight seeing? But I guess the best way to see how it works out is to test the waters when we get the game and see if the exploration pays off.

I, for one, will be happy to explore and do random things. I can only hope it's high quality as well, but I highly doubt it's going to be randomized dungeons like Daggerfall. That game is ancient. Even TES has evolved past that. Every Skyrim dungeon was handcrafted at least. Exploring was fun.

They are talking about the size of the game not the length. In other words they have added a lot more empty space between A and B. I don't think it will work since the game will run out of steam. That type of games needs to be quite tight unlike something like Skyrim.

If they try that on something similiar to the deep roads the reaction won't be pretty.

These guys managed to make Kirkwall and it's limited surrounding areas fun to me.. even with all of the complaints and valid criticisms of repeating maps, I still came out having fun.

If they can do that, I hardly think I have anything to worry about here.

If you're someone who already thinks they do bad work though, it'll be a tougher sell.

If the success of FO3/FO3NV and Skyrim prove anything, it's that random wandering is in and of itself an attraction for people.

That said, I didn't think DA:O had any large areas. The Deep Roads were just a bunch of caves, and not even spacious caves. None of the areas felt large to me.

Next-gen is here baby. The Witcher 3 is supposedly 35% bigger than Skyrim so I wouldn't be surprised if DA:I is a pretty "big" game. I'm thinking it'll be bigger than KoA.

Hopefully the restricted health regen and healing isn't a padding ploy to make the game longer than it seems.
