The main story is 40-50 hours long, and with all the side quest and exploration the game can apparently easily last over 100 hours.

That said, I didn't think DA:O had any large areas. The Deep Roads were just a bunch of caves, and not even spacious caves. None of the areas felt large to me.

Yup, I think the biggest zone was the one around Ostagar, early in the game? Bulk of the game were small zones linked together. So it's not going to be very hard to make a game with extra filler space for the mounts to ride around, that'd amount to 4-5x the overall map size.

"This... is Crestwood, this area alone is bigger than all of DA 2".

Oh, so DA:I is bigger than my bedroom then.

Yeah, they said the Kocari Wilds was the biggest single map in Origins.

Thank you for actually grasping the English language. I'd begun to despair.

I totally heard that in the voice of your avatar.

I wonder if there will be enough space to simply meander and hunt wildlife or something (and if the combat is even suited for hunting).

It's cool that it will be larger, but what is all the space for?

Boning, of course.

Playersexuality was just the start. BioWare are world leaders in Virtual Sexual Deviancy technology. As a company, they strive to break into new frontiers of debauchery.

Man, it's like you're the forum version of Anders. I hope your chantry explosion scene is close by.

That... is... the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.  :crying:

In the context of a post on boning and sexual deviancy, this phrasing takes on a whole new meaning.

In that case, I hope I'm not close by.

Next-gen is here baby. The Witcher 3 is supposedly 35% bigger than Skyrim so I wouldn't be surprised if DA:I is a pretty "big" game. I'm thinking it'll be bigger than KoA.

Hopefully the restricted health regen and healing isn't a padding ploy to make the game longer than it seems.

That can't be right, Skyrim is tiny!

Grand Theft Auto V has about 3 times the square acerage of Skyrim.

This isn't sarcasm, Skyrim's overland map is very very small, smaller even than Oblivion was. (Skyrim 14.8SQM Oblivion 16SQM, Grand Theft Auto V 49SQM)

All that pales in comparison to Just Cause 2, which comes in at an unrivaled 400SQM... at least unrivaled if you are saying in modern 3D accelerated graphics standard. The largest built (not procedural like Minecraft) game world is still The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. At Sixty-two Thousand (Yes, 62,000) Square Miles. (The size of Great Britain and Ireland)

Well I noticed that the Dragon Age Inquisition Official Guide has 352 pages, the Official Origins Guide had 336 pages.
So lets hope Inquisition is longer than Origins...

Guides are now available to pre-order on Amazon.

I am not getting my hopes up. I expect it to be like DA2 but without the parachuting enemies and reused maps and limitation of your character to only being human. This would be fine with me but not something to get overwhelmingly excited about.

The restricted health regen is, so far as I can tell, simply to get you to actually use health and lyrium pots. If I'm not mistaken, you still regen between maps, just not between fights, so there's an incentive to come prepared.

And with the Spirit Healer track gone much to my chagrin (no doubt as part of their "no spam casting healz!" crusade. Bah on you, I say!) this is going to become incredibly important.

Size isn't everything  :P

Although on the serious note, I don't recommend getting hyped up about tiny bits of information. Be glad and happy, but don't be too enthusiastic.

Umm... you DO know this is BSN, right? Therefore we must overreact accordingly.

I can already see myself stacking 200+ hours into DA:I. I'm one of those that "leave no stone unturn" plus I love listening / watching cutscenes so probably I'll take awhile to finish the game :)) Not to mention multiple playthroughs if it turn out to be good (And I believe it will). Ahhhh Oct can't come fast enough :(

Glad someone brought this up. 4-5 times bigger.. If it's 4-5 times as empty is just as useless. While i love big huge worlds and exploration, i had like that there's actual content in it.

I REALLY do hope to have at least 50% of Skyrim content? Can you do it Bioware?

Yeah, I'm not a completion fanatic or anything, but if the game allows for anything like skyrims "oooohhh look a thing!! Let's go poke it" style exploration, I can see myself sinking 150 hrs into my first playthrough. I always seem to take noticeably longer than your average person in games like this.

I got 80 something hours out of the main campaign in DA:O in one playthrough.  That's a meaty game.  DA:I can be the same length for all I care.  It's the quality of the content.  No need to artificially pad a game just to make it "bigger".

If you love a game THAT much you simply want it to be as long as you like. Plus the replayability. Woot!

Oh! I WANT it to last forever. Believe me!  I just don't want it to be full of fluff just for the sake of "longer".  You know?  I'd rather have an 80 hours of awesomeness than 60 hours of awesomeness and 20 hours of meh.
