But let's remember one thing: The Omega DLC (for Mass Effect 3) alleged to be 8 hours.  I think I got three out of it, tops.

Fetch quests must be obliterated. Or at the very least prettied up to the point that I don't realize it's a fetch quest.

Don't remind me. The least they could have done was open Omega up as an extra hub to purchase new weapons/armor. Side quests in an Omega hub after the campaign would have made that DLC infinitely better.

Having just replayed DA:O, I agree.  I think the fetch quests there were fairly well done.  Skyrim...holy crap! They were rabbit holes! The first time playing that thing, I would keep going down a quest line only to realize 4 hours later that this was a fetch quest! LOL.  Dat Radiant...

No argument here.  It was a wasted opportunity.  Then only to have Aria still hanging out in the same booth at the club? LOL! It was all just a dream...

A Night to Remember. All I did was have a drink... and then ransacked a nation whilst gassed up by a Daedric Prince. That Radiant indeed.

"This... is Crestwood, this area alone is bigger than all of DA 2".

Oh, so DA:I is bigger than my bedroom then.

You've got quite a bedroom. What are you, some sheikh? No, still doesn't compute.

Hightown+Lowtown+Darktown+Gallows+Sundermount+Deep roads+Bone pit+Wounded coast (not to mention the cave, the ruins, the sewers and the house)—I'm starting to think you sleep under open sky.

Little did the unsuspecting fans know 1/3 of that time would be spent locked in a giant Deep Roads maze.

To be honest, I would be happy with this.

Now that I think about it, I think the reason why I remembered DAO to be huge was because the amount of time I spent on it, which was about 60 hrs. But you guys are right it wasnt "huge" it was big though, well bigger then DA2 that is lol.

It did get a little claustrophobic in there.  Overall, though, it wasn't that bad on my second playthru.

As long as they aren't just big empty areas or reused areas on a larger scale of what we had last game. Skyrim was good for exploration and discovery but there wasn't much in the areas at the end of the day. So this is just another on the list of things that I'll wait for reviews on the implementation.

But after the last game I'd honestly welcome seeing new unique areas as the game goes on even if they're empty.

I could be in the minority but the deep roads was my favorite part of the game. I always play it on a weekend so I can do it in one sitting and turn out the lights or close the blinds. Like being underground lol

Just replayed DA:O and with Return to Ostagar, Soldier's Peak and the Stone Prisoner, it took me a little over 80 hours to finish.

Sadly I dont have that kind of time to lend a game that I've played before, although I would like to to refresh myself. I beat DA2 for the first time last week, and it really wasnt bad, it just does not compare to DAO. But you can tell there was still some care put into it, it kinda makes me feel that DA2 came first haha.

Oh! I WANT it to last forever. Believe me!  I just don't want it to be full of fluff just for the sake of "longer".  You know?  I'd rather have an 80 hours of awesomeness than 60 hours of awesomeness and 20 hours of meh.

It works both ways you know? You rather have 10 hours of awesomeness than 60 hours of meh. Is it not? So by your theory if DAI can be awesome for the 10 hours then it should be 10 hours no?

When they say "40 hours" do they mean 40 hours of story/campaign quests, or 40 hours doing everything (includin main quests)?

Because if that's just 40 hours of main quests, then that would be awesome.

Anyway, I find it hard to believe that someone can play up to 100 hours on a story-driven game. They'd have to play it on a high diffuclty setting, plus they would be walking (not sprinting) everywhere. But I'm sure someone's probably going to go "well i play like that bla bla bla", so I guess that "100 hours" Bioware said does apply to someone.

100 hours?  sweet!  I can easily do that.  I love to complete all side quest before doing the final quest

Let's see, with all the DLC and most of the side quests, my run through Origins was 20 hours when I'm sure it was supposed to be more than that, and four of those hours were spent grinding experience and sitting around. Hopefully Inquisition has an equal or greater amount of content to fill up that time block.

They stated around 50 for the main plot and other 50 for the side quests.

It seems to me that in DAO, a lot -- LOT -- of time would be added to your playthrough if you not only read all the codex entries start to finish, but actually studied them and tried to flesh out your understanding of the world and lore.

Yeah, I'm not a completion fanatic or anything, but if the game allows for anything like skyrims "oooohhh look a thing!! Let's go poke it" style exploration, I can see myself sinking 150 hrs into my first playthrough. I always seem to take noticeably longer than your average person in games like this.

I hope for this too, there has been many a time I've loaded skyrim up with the intention of doing specific quests, only to find myself hours later, having not even started those quests as I've been distracted by all the other random stuff that popped up in my path, and I love that.

So does anyone know: if you pause the game and then go have lunch or something is that time still being counted as "hours played"?

I have to disagree, that at least for me, a bigger game leads to a terrible paced experience. I believe it is Bethesda's way of telling stories which does. I don't think it should matter if there is stuff between point A and B as long as you can get from point A to B in a timely manner for anyone who doesn't really like to explore. I just can't see making the world bigger really affect the pacing dramatically with good forms of travel.

I would love for DAI to not take the same approach as Bethesda tends to take with their games by designing all areas in such a way you trip over actual content around every corner, although I do believe Bioware is still trying to fill every corner with actual content. I prefer my game worlds to make sense, even if this means "pacing" is affected although I don't believe it is as long as you can easily continue the main story, which one can with mounts and fast travel nodes.

The Witcher 3 is actually much bigger than just 35 % bigger than Skyrim. A month or two ago CD Projekt Red had a presentation about the technology used for the game and the slides showed the game is actually going to be a few times (3.5 times at least) bigger than Skyrim. This was also later confirmed to be true by a developer. There are three regions for the Witcher 3 and the city region plus the islands region are 52 square miles whereas Skyrim is about 14 square miles.

Well You do have to remember this is purely next gen so they aren't as limited as DAI with having to try to keep  close to the previous gen consoles and witcher 2 was pretty big
