I'm working in the "Sword of Kas"; But I'm not sure about what kind of sword it should be. According to the "Dungeons master Guide" 3.5 Ed it's a long sword. however in the 2nd Ed According to the "book of artifacts" it can be easily wielded with two hands. Also in the 4th Ed it's seem to be a bastard-sword, that would fit better with the 2nd Ed description. So my doubt is between longsword or bastard-sword?

Sword_kas_beta.jpg

Sword of Kas will shape itself to best suit its wielder. It has at various times been a short sword, long sword, or great sword. Maybe make all three sizes and then have a special OnAcquire script that changes the weapon template to whatever best suits the person that just acquired it. For example, a great sword wielding fighter finds the Sword of Kas - for him it becomes a great sword. Whereas a rogue that finds it winds up with a short sword.

Thanks, Pstemarie, however I know nothing about scrits, but I'm going to work in the different versions, for the different kind of swords. So could be, the sword of Kas,  any kind of sword?

Shemsu, make models for the various sword types. Then someone can help you with the scripting.

I think the key is to have models that will each of the base-item types which are like a sword: short sword, long sword, two handed sword, bastard sword, scimitar, katana, rapier, 2 bladed sword, and… well why not a dagger as well.

I could make a script which executes on acquire, and swaps between the various blueprints available to a type of sword that is most appropriate for the PC who acquired it. This would ensure that the sword takes a form that is most effective for that particular PC. Alternatively… there could be a Unique onused property that enables a PC to say what form they want the sword to take. This later method might be the most efficient and user-friendly.

Count me in. I am planning to do various crystals and orbs from this list:

http://en.wikipedia....geons_&_Dragons

as well as some other random items.

If I do Crenshinibon, I will also make a placeable giant crystal tower to go with it. No tileset to go with it (yet) but, I am certain somebody could redo a castle interior to make use of crystal textures quite easily.

Might take another look at Enserric's HotU scripts that let him take the shape of whatever weapon the PC preferred :-)

From the description, I'd say bastard sword (since in D&D those you can (or used to be able to) switch between 1- and 2-handed grips).

I've been making some inventory icons recently that would probably fit in with this month's CCC:

I might add a few more to the above.

Those look great for artifacts and relics.

Thanks, some help with scripts would welcome. I'm not sure about 2 bladed-sword, and katana versions, but the others would be OK. And the dagger is a king of "sword" that any class can use...

Cool. I'll come up with something, post it, and then when you let me know which baseitem types you are modelling for I can set up a script for this. This should be a fun little problem to solve.

Its not really a big problem. In the OnAcquire event for the sword, fire a conversation that asks the PC what form the sword should take. Give the available types in a menu and when the PC makes a selection use the action taken event attached to that conversation node to destroy the current item and replace it with the sword item chosen by the PC in the conversation.

Sword_of_Kas.jpg

Kas, the vampire was the dreaded lieutenant of Vecna. He used this mighty blade, created by his master. to betray and attack the archlich, cutting off his hand and eye in a terrible battle before Vecna destroyed him. Only his sword survived, and it is said to forever seek vengeance against Vecna.

Sword_of_Kas_%26_Master.jpg

The Sword an his Master: DIE VECNA, DIE!!!!!!!!!

Sword_of_Kas_Variations.jpg

Those are all the variations of the Sword of Kas, what I have made, from left to right: dagger, short-sword, rapier, longsword, bastard-sword, and greatsword.

I have excluded the katana and the scimitar because they are one edge swords while the sword of Kas seems to be always a double edge sword. And the double bladed sword, because it's more like a polearm  weapon than a standard sword. One thing is that the sword of Kas can change its size, and another is that it could change radically its shape.

@MerricksDad: Your Crenshinibon and Crystal of the Ebon Flame looks very good, thanks for It. Could you consider to work with The Orbs of Dragonkind or the Jacinth of Inestimable Beauty, next?

I was already doing the orbs, but I had missed the Jacinth. It is a MUST do!

Edit:

Here's what I got going so far:

Tesseract (done)

Crenshinibon (done)

Crystal of the Ebon Flame (done)

Egg of Lolth (done)

Death Rock (done)

++ Jacinth of Inestimable Beauty

10 Orbs of Dragon Kind

Death Moon Orb

Moaning Diamond

Tear of Selune

Living Gem

Orb of Golden Death

4 Gems of Elemental Power

Guardian's Tear / King's Tears

Gatekeeper's Gem

All orbs are currently in progress

These are all going to be off-scale so you can actually see them on a character. The gakekeeper's gem is supposed to be only an inch, and some of the others are also very small normally. But they will all be about the same size in-hand.

I am thinking to NOT assign any powers to these items, and instead let the various module builders do that themselves. Many of these have powers that simply don't work well in NWN.

These are all going in a new item type called Focus - Psi Crystal, with prefix wfopc, which is part of my 4E mod (which may never release). Users can feel free to use these models in any way they want of course, so it does not have to stay as a new item type.

How many folks are using those fingered hands? Should I redo the positioning to fit those better, or should I just wrap them to vanilla hands?

Fingered hands, if possible.

They do seem to be a pretty common thing, so I think it would be better if they were done for fingered hands.

Granted. So which kit for fingered hands is most common? I'll do them around those.

Im dropping my submission. Compared to what I see, my item prefabs aren't worthy of artefact label :D.

Got some ideas for scripts, but Im guite busy so I don't know if I gonna be able to do that. Posting here so someone else could do it if like.

1) Artefact-parts icons. Say, the sword that Shemsu did will be divided into three parts that player must find and then complete. But that needs som handy icons for this. To do this with the vanilla HotU craft icons is a bit cheap - its for artefact common! :P

2) "BG 2 artifact smith" style conversation prefab/script set + possibly an area/NPC prefab. Aka, npc that looks into your inventory and tell you that you have there one part of the legendary Silver Sword but you need yet to find the second/third part of it. And in case you have all parts it tells you the cost to complete it and ask you if you want to do this. If you agree, a cutscene starts where the smith doing some hammerwork on anvil with magic effects.

Oh yes, much better.

Edit:

Would the group mind if I put in some non-artifact orbs I had already created for my 4E mod? I'll make them fit these hands too. It shouldn't take long since all the orbs would require the same adjustments.

MD, isn't an artifact, it's history and powers, pretty much whatever the builder decides it is?  A sword can be one, and orb can be one, a small jeweled urn can be one, an abalone shell can be one, even an unassuming rock can be one--though admittedly it wouldn't look very eye catching.  I'm pretty sure that whatever you have in mind is more than worthy of artifact status.  :)

(A 2008 spawning undead demo that was scripted with the Sword of Kas featured as a Centerpiece Artifact, spawning temporary vampire allies from its kills, as per the "spawn undead" pnp 3.0-3.5 ability, and featured a colored-text battlecry system, that promises to "swallow your sou!")

The Sword of Kas has always been one of my favorite Artifacts and Greyhawk storylines (Vecna vs Kas the savior/traitor) and i can't wait to use!!!

I know I posted the first few images as able to be placed on the tables and stuff, but since I have wrapped these to fit the fingered hand, they look really bad laying on the ground. I could do _g varieties of the various items without too much difficulty. Should I do that? How useful do you think those would be, and how often do you want to see things like artifact gems just laying around? I don't want to do it if nobody thinks they will use them.

My hut interior has turned into a 50 area module - god bless Dragon Magazine and Roger Moore. This in turn has led me down the road of all kinds of custom goodness. That being said, I'm reducing my submission to the creature and placeable versions of the hut. The module is gonna take too long to make this month's challenge.
