How I would like MP to be

Here's my long detailed list of what I want multiplayer to be

tl;dr

I just turned that off in Watch_Dogs. Not entirely sure what they were thinking with that.

Some of the rationale behind Watch Dogs multiplayer is explained here.

On topic: I don't play multiplayer myself, so I don't have any particular opinion, but I would prefer it to be separate from SP.

i'm not a fan of MP. but co-op would kick ass. hell, i wouldn't whine if it made me use an existing NPC

The best thing you can say about Watch Dogs MP is that it does not get in the way as long as you turn it off.

I would like MP (if it exists) to be a completely separate Day 1 download that I can ignore

That won't happen because they will want people to be spending on the MP microtransactions like ME3.

I don't get this. There are so many MMO games for multiplayer fans. Play these and be happy. Dragon Age is intended to be singleplayer experience (at least I belive so). Better do one thing good than split resources and creativity into two parts. Singleplayer and multiplayer are very different experiences and don't combine well.

Even remotely like mass effect 3 will be awesome.

I would think we would get something along the lines of Mass Effect 3, but obviously different.

No, there is no chance for other players to join your singleplayer campaign like Watch Dogs or things like this. YOU are the Inquisitor.

On the other hand I highly doubt we will get PVP, I just don't see the combat being viable in PvP situations. Unless its some form of duels. But why add duels and then call it multiplayer?

The Mass Effect 3 road is probably the most likely, or different forms of this. You make a soldier, you chose race and class just like OP said. And then you fight things. In what form will the combat be? I have no idea. It could be just like ME3 where you fight waves of enemies, or perhaps a more adventure version where you go through something. A cave of enemies, a battlefield or whatever, you name it.

I will be doing a lot of multiplayer, because its nice to keep playing the game but you don't have to focus on a questline or worrying about paying attention to things. Sometimes its just nice to sit on skype and kill things in a game you really do enjoy playing. Without having any negative sides of them interrupting you while you watch some important story parts in your game. Plus its nice to share a game you love with other people.

Of course we buy Dragon Age and Mass Effect for the singleplayer experience, but I feel the multiplayer is just extra features. Its fun plus BioWare will make a lot more money on having it. (if it has have micro transactions). And as long as it doesn't effect the singleplayer experience i see no problem with having it there. Refusing to playing it on principle is a bit silly I would say, but that is what I think.

I hope they do a bit more with it than endless waves of killing, and i have hopes that there is more. Why? Because I don't mind being a BioWare fanboy. :)

I feel like I'm in the minority here as I don't care that much. I trust they've learned there lesson from da2, so I think Inquisition will be a good game in general. But while multiplayer will take away time from the rest of the game, I don't think they'll let it completely change/ruin it. They'll probably just take out a few more of the least interesting parts of the game to make up for it. Plus, it may be good and turn out to be one of the things people love about it.

I do not understand this mindset. How will multiplayer take away from the rest of the game? Are you forced to play multiplayer? No. Does it drain resources from the main game's development? Not really. Maybe a teensy little bit, but it's generally developed by a different team from the main game. This statement just makes no sense.

I really like the OP's idea actually, but yeah, it having an affect on single player would be rather irritating. But having your multiplayer avatar as member of the inquisition would be very cool.

Yeah, having seeing your avatar(s) in SP as agents of the Inquisition and interacting with them would be cool. Also, it would only give you some cool items(weapons, armor and upgrades) and xp, nothing too major and it wouldn't be mandatory to play.

I'd rather not have multiplayer, but if there is and they handle it kinda like ME3, it might not be too bad.

I rather not have multiplayer because it could potentially take away money and development time on the single player aspect of the game.  Even if that wasn't the case, it would just add in more costs to the game and require the game to have to sell even more copies to turn a profit.

In another multiplayer thread I posted my feels.

If you're going to have it - keep it as separate from the single player as possible - I would say to the point of if you play one or the other you're unaware of the other existing levels.

If you're going to have it - have a bot / offline mode (Nothing worse than really enjoying a multiplayer aspect of a game only to have it lag and drop out - ME3 I'm looking at you.)

Singleplayer and multiplayer are very different experiences and don't combine well.

You should've been on the watchdogs team... just sayin. Not that im one of the haters, but the mp and sp integration is just horrible.

Anyway, the mission style coop is probably the best way(Imo, obviously) to do mp, if at all. But I would rather not have anything carry over. Also if they're  not set character then I would really want there to be actual customization for the characters. not the me3 crap customization. As for set characters far cry 3 coop is a good example. They would have their own set look and class(and personality to some extent) but gear and skills would be based on the player.

I always assumed it would be an arena-like battle royale.

I would actually rather have faction and class oriented objective based multiplayer with maps taken from large chunks of Thedas.  I'd rather it didn't have anything to do with the single player game whatsoever and I'd like to play as people and creatures I normally couldn't in single player.  That would be the best way to get the biggest bang for the buck in the total package, in my opinion.

RPG's are about Role Playing ergo "immersion" SWTOR was ok until you encounter a player with a name like IEatzNoobz4Eva and at that point its immersion broken and game ruined.Co-op campaign would be barely tolerable and even then the host should have to give permission for another player to join and have the option to boot them at any time and if needed ban/block a individual them from ever joining their game again.

1 of the things I hate about most modern games and alot of the people who play them is that notion that Zombies,MP and Micro Transactions must be in every game at all costs.

Your idea is probably the closest we'll ever get to a Dragon Age MMO, so I'd be up for it. I'm a sucker for that genre, even if there lots of downsides.

Thedas is such a rich world, it'd be awesome to share with friends!

It should be like Watch_Dogs, where random jerks can just pop into your game and harass you when you're trying to do the single-player campaign.

I shut that off because it got annyoing pretty fast. It's stupid if i wanna do some mission or hunt for collectables  and suddenly someone hacks in my game and forces me to do something, i originally didn't want to.

And i don't like the thought for that to be in DAI. Like: Ok, i assembled my group, did all the preparations and now off to kill some dragon... but then someone comes right in and forces me to some pvp.... and maybe it`s some lvl 40 guy which wipes the floor with my lvl 23 Avatar. No thanks.

And why has there to be an MP for DA? If you wanna play an RPG with strong grouping-aspect, then take a MMO - there are plenty out there.  The ME3 MP was halfa** and i don't think, there's any need for one in Inquisition.

There probably won't be MP at this point. They have made no mention of it at E3 and I see no reason why they would not if it existed.

The interviewer asked if it was all single player. Although he may have meant it as co-op.
