The diffrence is I just want the same amount of content as if I didnt romance them, and in content, I mean dialog. I want to be able to talk to them just as much as if I had romanced them, even if I didnt. If that made it more clear ^^;
In ME1 that was impossible. If you wanted to talk to Ashley more but you romanced Liara, you were screwed, and I thought that was pretty damn lame
OMG... you might have to play through twice.....

All that we have so far from BW on this is that there is a POTENTIAL for LIs from ME1 to be in ME3. There is no ironclad guarantee that they will be even in as cameos. I was just about to add a spoiler here but anyways lets just say that the BW track record on this issue is bad almost non-existent compared to what they stated would be there. And for those of you who have ME2 LIs well lets just say if the past is an indication you'll be in the same boat in ME3 as those who had ME1 LIs - very, very, very disappointed.
One point does not a straight line make.
It's not accurate to say that Bioware's track record on this issue has been bad when they've never had another game with this kind of "issue" in the past.
OP, if it helps, the romances compose of, at most, an extra 2-3% of content to the game. You can probably manage to "lead" a few romances on of sorts to get some of their romance specific dialgue and then cut it short before it becomes a relationship to squeeze out a little more dialgoue if you want. So cut that 2-3% figure to 1-2%.
Alternatively, you may want to consider actually experiencing the new NPCs first to make sure you might not actually like one of them more than your ME1 romance. Stop meta-gaming your character before you've actually had the opportunity to experience ME2.

Hopefully, the romances wont be like Ashley's romance in ME1. If your just nice to her it will start a romance which got annoying when I did my single shep import. On my first playthrough im gonna talk to every one but avoid romances if I can as my main's LI is Ash. If I start a romance, ohh well I just wont use that as my main going into ME3. If possible, my main is sticking with Ash right too the end.
Pretty much my thoughts on this as well.

"I also think that some of the very same people who are worried that their love interest from the first one won't be a squad member will probably end up cheating on their love interest from Mass Effect 1 anyway," said Hudson. "The ones in Mass Effect 2 are really compelling.
They are not compelling they just ARE what we can't say about ME1 LI

Unless you haven’t seen the launcher trailer, we all saw what happens to Ashley and it can’t be a nice experience, especially after a few years later. If Ashley believes you to be still alive, she would natural hope that you to be the white knight charging to her rescue and maybe that what keeps her sane and alive, that you will find her. Now picture that you have found Ashley and its nothing but a tearful reunion and you are the hero in her eyes but you cheated on her. What do you do now hero? Maybe in game you honestly thought she was dead but that doesn’t make things much better.
I can actual see this ending in gunfire with enraged Ashley screaming. “While I have been going through hell, you have been boning Tali!!!”

Plus, I'm going to play the game as a certain archetype, and if it results in Shepards or Mirandas death then so be it, no issues going into ME3. And a hell of a story experience.

You arn't being punished, just make a new character and play this time with geting a new lover. I have like 8 characters for ME1. I'll probably do the same for ME2. You'll never miss anything unless you only play once with one character, and if you do that you are stupid and have no reason to play the game because you'll be that guy who complains to his friends about how lame it is that you can't do it all with one character in one play trough like my friend. I hate that guy.
I think that's a bit like being punished, that I cant talk to characters for the same amount unless I play through the game like 5 times. I dont need to talk about ALL possible things mind you, but I would like the same AMOUNT of dialog with the characters without needing to sex them up
So dont use the flirty responses that lead to a romance?
...What? I think you've completely missed my point here.
No, you can get most of the dialogue without romancing. Just dont be flirty, as in ME1.
The only dialogue you're missing out on is..well romance. Which you don't want.
It obviously WON'T be the same amount, because no matter what, you're skipping the romance.
and you usually have to go through quite a bit of dialogue before you can "sex them up".
Yeah see this is kind of what I was refering to as being "punished" though. That if I dont romance, I dont get the same amount of dialog I could if I did.
As an example, if I romanced someone, I could start talking about for example:
"So, do you want to go on a date sometime?" (Im just making examples here)
But if I didnt romance I would like to get an option to say something to them anyway, like:
"So, what do you do for fun?"
Or something like that. It's.. Im horrible at explaining what I mean, but im kind of hoping people understand. I want the same amount of dialog, but that dosnt mean the SAME type of dialog. If I dont romance someone, of course I woudnt want to have dialog that I would have gotten if I did, but I would still like to be able to talk to them more.
EDIT: OKay reading through what people are saying, it seems that you dont get what I mean. I dont blame that on you though, im horrible with explaining things. So thanks anyway

For example, I was a dick to Ashley and Liara the ENTIRE game. 1 mission after I get Liara, she asks if we can be together, I say no and she backs off. I then make almost no interaction with Ashley, then I get the cutscene of them almost kissing and was a bit confused. Then bam, sex scene option. I figured what the hell, and started it. I have full intentions of dumping her ass in ME2, and if the option is available I will just tell her I needed some sexy time to go with my Renegade personality.

Probably since for the time he's been missing she's been chatting with him and her dad. Would she even accept him as "her Shepard"? Or just some souless frankenstien cerberus created?

I'm betting those who remain faithful all the way through will be rewarded in some fashion, but it's a bit early to speculate.
The Romance Subplot always ended in a sex scene.....I dont think Shepard was using any contraceptives..
Perhaps a baby?

I am curious to see how an Ash romance will conclude. Being that we've been told by Bioware that at the start Shepard dies and is brought back by Cerberus. I not sure how our religious gunnery gal will react to the new Shepard.

It would be great if issues like this were explored in the game. Is Shepard still Shepard? Is s/he still human?
It would bore the console kiddies tho, so there's a dilemma right there for the devs. Make it smart, or dumb it down. Wonder which route they took?
We'll see in a few days, eh?

That's the way I see it. My "main" Shepard will be faithful to Kaidan, while the others will boff everyone else.
That's my plan as well.

Oh my word, I hope not. For those of us of the female persuasion....well, it's a bit hard to save the galaxy when you're fighting morning sickness.
