Just finished The Masked Empire and really like his character. Has anyone seen/read hints of him in DA:I from the trailers or snippets from the devs?
...and is it even a teeny bit possible that he is moustache guy?

Nope. He can't be mustache guy, cause the mustache guy wielded a staff in the final Inquisition shot of the gameplay trailer.
I have a theory that he is the warden. With both sides of the war wanting him dead it would make since for him to go somewhere outside the law.

As much as I would love to interact with him in game, and as much as his participation would make sense, I don't think he's going to be a follower. If Maevaris was introduced to the series too late to be considered as a follower, Michel certainly was.
Which is a shame. I really liked him.
Slight spoilers below:
He does look like a character that could appear in game. But there aren't actually any hints about it. All we know is that he's probably hiding since he betrayed Celene, and probably going after the super bad demon he helped release (too little too late in my opinion, but oh well). So we could come across him, especially if we try to hunt down Imshael as well.
He is not the moustache guy, since that guy is a mage. However he could look like anyone, since we never really got a description of his looks from the book if I remember correctly. He's probably not the Warden either, since they've made it quite obvious that he is in fact a Warden based on the concept art.
Hmm. Wouldn't fit with his quest to hunt down Imshael, though, who has little if anything to do with Darkspawn at all. That *would* be a compelling reason for him to join the Inquisition if it turns out Imshael has something to do with the viel tears, however, and so far as I know there are 3 unrevealed companions remaining.
True there are still some holes to fill in the team, and my theory is more than likely bull. However, I still think Michel needs some way around the law with a whole country after his head. He also has no leads on Imsael other than he likes big choices. And, with rumors of a new blight and the Veal tear who knows where the big bad wolf is. Plus, from the art we side the warden is going to be hanged. And, who would kill a warden that old when they could just send him to the Deep Road and call it a "Early Calling".
I think something will come up while we're adventuring in Orlais that turns our attention on Imshael and we'll bump into Ser Michel while we track down the demon. He could join us temporarily (not as a temp follower, just an npc that fights alongside us) because he's actually interacted with Imshael and has some insight or help to offer. Or he could stubbornly refuse to stay behind while the Inquisitor fights Imshael because he's dedicated his life to stopping the demon and atoning for releasing him. This might just be wishful thinking, but I adore Ser Michel so I really want the chance to adventure with him even if only for a moment ![]()
I remember hearing that we will run into someone from the masked empire in the highlands, so I am thinking he is the person that we run into.
Sadly- No. Mutashed guy is mage.
He's supposed to be in the highlands, so I guess we'll see him eventually. Personally I'm fairly excited to run into Michel.....but I'll definitely have a playthrough where I give him to Imshael for some kind of bonus. Hopefully a specialization or some additional skill points(more than 1, Because come on)
If that's an option (which seems likely) the reward had better be TREMENDOUS, and even then I'd probably still have to make my husband play that part for me. I can't handle doing horrible things to characters I like, even "for science" ![]()
"for science", yes that's why I would do it. And yeah, I want it to feel worthwhile. Oh, you just sacrificed a potentially powerful ally/complete innocent/group of people, here's 3attribute points/1skill point/If that's an option (which seems likely) the reward had better be TREMENDOUS, and even then I'd probably still have to make my husband play that part for me. I feel like he'll be part of a questline in vanquishing Ishamel, during which he will be killed. Which I would not enjoy, as I liked him in TME.

But, just think of all the loot. he still has Celene's jewels, and if his weapons and armor are fixed your set. High power arms and enchantments fit for any class.
Slaughtering Chevaliers in blood sacrifices to demons since 9:40 Dragon.
To paraphrase Varric: "Well killing Chevaliers is never wrong."
You know, if there is one character in the Masked Empire I absolutely hated, it was Michel.
I didn't like Celene. I didn't like Gaspard. I didn't like Briala.
I despised Michel.
And honestly it's not even his fault. He's a little annoying. A little arrogant. (More than) a little self righteous. But compared to the other three, on his own, he's not that bad of a person.
But more than anyone, he was the character used to demonstrate that Chevaliers are badasses.
Now, I've always had the notion that Chevaliers were 70% hype. They were competent warriors, but nothing near what they considered themselves. Given that we can kill a few fairly easily in Mark of the Assassin, and just the general impression I've gotten, they're no more 'elite' than any other skilled military order in Thedas, just a lot more full of themselves.
Michel was the character used to say "No, they really are that good", so Michel became the character who I wanted to utterly destroy, just to put him and his order in their proper place.
It's not logical, it's not reasonable, and like I said, it's not his fault. But I want to stomp him into the mud and leave him as a broken shell of a man.
Isn't he
Yes. I just read TME and it was amazing. He was my favorite character after Felassan, so I'm looking forward to (SPOILERS) hunting Imsael with him. Especially if Imshael is the Big Bad, as I suspect he will be. (END SPOILERS).

well, to be fair michel was at the peak of chevalier talent, its like the wardens we see in the trailers for inquisition.... we can kill them easily because the inquisitor is just that good.... hawke can kill the chevaliers in mota easily because he is just that strong.... our warden in origins can destroy literally thousands of darkspawn alone because he is that good.... that is what they made michel out to be in this book.... hes good, but he and gaspard still struggled against revenants, so not that good....
his character was a good person, and i liked that.... but, the whole thing at the end killed it for me, and i really dont care for him anymore.... but he is the 2nd least hated character in tme for me....
Like I said, it's not a logical hatred I have for the character. On an intellectual level I understand all these things.
On a gut instinct level, I want to defeat him. I want it to be easy. And I want to leave him a cripple for the rest of his life so he can live knowing that he just wasn't worth killing.
