You know, if there is one character in the Masked Empire I absolutely hated, it was Michel. 

 

I didn't like Celene. I didn't like Gaspard. I didn't like Briala. 

 

I despised Michel.

 

And honestly it's not even his fault. He's a little annoying. A little arrogant. (More than) a little self righteous. But compared to the other three, on his own, he's not that bad of a person.

 

But more than anyone, he was the character used to demonstrate that Chevaliers are badasses. 

 

Now, I've always had the notion that Chevaliers were 70% hype. They were competent warriors, but nothing near what they considered themselves. Given that we can kill a few fairly easily in Mark of the Assassin, and just the general impression I've gotten, they're no more 'elite' than any other skilled military order in Thedas, just a lot more full of themselves. 

 

Michel was the character used to say "No, they really are that good", so Michel became the character who I wanted to utterly destroy, just to put him and his order in their proper place. 

 

It's not logical, it's not reasonable, and like I said, it's not his fault. But I want to stomp him into the mud and leave him as a broken shell of a man.

That describes how I felt every time I read a scene with him in the book.

On an intellectual level I understand there's no reason for me to dislike him as intensely as I do, but that doesn't change that I do dislike him.

I've been looking for it, but so far, all I've found is one sketch on tumblr. Celene and Briala were described in the book, but I think they're the only ones who were, at least as far as I remember.

I like this scetch but Michel must be older- he was Celene's Champion 10 years. I think he is 30 now.

People don't usually look too much older at 30 than they did at 20. A few lines, maybe, a little grey hair or a few extra pounds, but generally, the same. Everyone is different of course, but a healthy person with a good diet and regular exercise will probably not show obvious signs of aging until they're in their 40s. And then it happens fast.

Is there a citation to the artist...? Or is it yours? This is lovely. I hadn't pictured Felassen like that... Is he darker skinned in the book? I honestly don't recall.

I kind of imagined him as having a wider jaw, but since he is elf-blooded, a narrower jaw makes more sense.

Yeah, I could see that. And I could see him voluntarily keeping as much facial hair as he possibly could without looking scruffy because elves don't grow facial hair. But I can also imagine him as not having much in the way of a beard, and being secretly embarrassed about it, so either way works for me.

And he was probably pretty scruffy for most of the book since it didn't sound like they had a lot of time to shave and wax mustaches, hehe

There needs to be fanfiction. Sadly, much of the book is so purpose-oriented, it's hard for me to imagine what could be expanded without getting going too far into speculation.

 

I'm not usually a fan of dragging every character from supplemental media into the game just to appease the fans (who am I kidding? ***cough***Galyan***cough***), but I hope Michel does show up in DAI because I'm dying to find out what happened to him.

That's... a good find! Why would IMDB have that information? Is it like Wikipedia, where anyone can edit it? Not sure.

But I'm glad he is in game. I expected he would be, because I'm guessing we get to kill Imshael and he is involved with that. Going to kill him afterwards for letting Clan Virnehn get slaughtered due to his foolish mistake... Demon should have gone after him too.
