Your father is most likely watching porn. Time to have a chat with him!  :P

or other streamed video - nba/nhl/football, online movies, youtube videos/documents... but he wouldnt forget about that.

We do have anti-virus software already, its not giving any warnings or anything.

what antivirus are you using? if its only microsoft security essentials, you should try kaspersky, norton, eset nod32 or free versions of malwarebytes and superantispyware.

have you made some changes in your router settings? like opening ports, enabling DMZ, changing something in bandwith management? if yes, try to set everything to default.

and one last thing. have you checked your running processes for anything suspicious? you can do it with your task manager or you can use this tiny utility - process explorer v16.02

... kaspersky, norton ...

I'd avoid those two, the first is bloatware and the second is unreliable bloatware :|

nod32 is pretty good though and Avast isn't bad.

That's just impossible because my internet speed couldn't handle that much data in that period of time. That's too much.

Why should Kaspersky be avoided?

I have Pure for few years and I´m quiet happy with it.I admit,it is pretty hard hitting for my general purpose laptop(old pos),but my gaming rig doesn´t notice it at all.

On topic.

I have few GB of internet traffic, when having long ME3 playing sessions.

Kaspersky isn't too bad - it's one of the better ones for catching most of the nasties ... it's just that it's rather system hungry; and the enterprise level management widget (if you're deploying it across a corporate network) is a bit of a swine.

All-in-all, for home PCs there are free alternatives that are just as good and less bloated and in a corporate environment there are equivalent tools with better management interfaces.

WUT?

That is definitely not normal....

Even for an hour long nonstop hosting game it shouldn't be more than, say 180 mb (or something around that value)

Yeah just go to Linux and then your malware problem is practically solved! ;)

Heh - except Windows still holds the fort for gaming - can't WINE everything :|

Mind, even with *nix you can't be totally careless but the fact that you need to sudo to do anything truly destructive is a great help... I was actually happy when Windows implemented UAC tbh.

FTR, ME3 does use constant data, it is constantly pinging the EA servers to confirm that you are online (that's why you get that "Lost connection to the EA servers" error - even while hosting). So even soloing you are using up data. Regardless, that sounds excessive and incorrect. Beyond all the problems other people mentioned, those meters lie to force you to pay more. Always a possibility.

Hmm, 2GB seems too much for ME3.

I actually use a program to force ME3 connecting via a proxy, thus the game connects better to EA servers to reduce EA disconnection chance, this program also monitors internet usage, typically ME3 uses 300-400MB in a 2-hour cycle, and most of the above bandwidth usage comes from the first few minutes when ME3 connects to EA server, the actual internet usage when playing in a lobby is smaller.

So it's either your statistics are not reliable, or other programs are (secretly) eating your bandwidth.

You could try running something like Wireshark, or another packet capture app, during one game to see what you're total bandwidth use is. Use that as a baseline and extrapolate from there.

Personally, that amount of bandwidth usage during two or three games seems excessive.

Unfortunately I'm only an xbox peasant so I cant really monitor my usage, why playing.

The 2gb figure was what the guy from telecom (my service provider) told us we used during that time period, as I was the only person using at the time I was concerned, but as has been pointed out there's no why that could have been caused solely by me playing 3 games, There's definitely something else going on, were still trying somethings, hopefully i'll no more soonish.

Thanks again for all the replies guys.

Sounds like your PC has been hacked.  There's no way a game could chew through that much data.
