Does anyone else think he's going to be the main villain of DAI? Think about it. He's extremely intelligent, is one of the beings who first created blood magic, has all this access to the Eluvians, and has a strong emphasis on the nature of choice. And what's the game all about? Choice. We choose the fate of the world and accept the consequences those choices bring. He's the perfect embodiment of that, and that would make him the perfect villain.

If not I hope we at least get a cool sidequest with him.

No. The villain of DAI has been working behind the scenes for some time and Imshael just arrived recently in the mortal world.

The Masked Empire pretty conclusively indicated he wouldn't be. He didn't know the Veil Tears were coming.

You mean he was recently summoned and trapped by the Dalish. We don't know where he was or what he was doing before that. He is one of the Forbidden Ones.

The last two Forbidden Ones were just side missions. So I imagine that Imsheal will be the same, perhaps a bit more involved than the others but still side content.

Oh, I must have missed that. Where did it say that, Jedi?

Near the end of the book, 355. Imshael is talking about the impending chaos and says it's "fire and swords are so dull" so Felessan says "something bigger" is coming and Imshael says "Oh my, Is that a promise?"

Given the ending of ME, I think the main villain is going to be Fen'Harel. Could just be me though.

Imshael will definitely be a side mission. Given the pattern with Gaxkang and... the other one, I can't remember the name (so disappointed he was just a boss level desire demon though) Imshael will certainly be a side mission, and I bet Michel may be involved in that mission in some way.

Xebenkeck was the DA2 demon. The gang includes Gaxkang, Xebenkeck, Imshael and The Formless One.

I have a feeling that the Forbidden Ones are going to be playing a much larger role in the future of the franchise.

There are some who theorize that The Formless One has already been playing a much larger role in the franchise.

Yanno.

Formless.

Like shapeshifting.

Possibly into a dragon.

What does the ending of Mass Effect have to do with Dragon Age?

@ The White Fire, do you think the big bad is Flemeth, then? It sounds reasonable. I wouldn't be surprised.

It's just TME is setting up DAI, so I thought that besides the Civil War, Briala, and the Eluvians, there was only one major plot thread that needed to be resolved: Imshael. Because all the other are going to be so important, I figure Imshael might be, too. He certainly matches the theme of the story of DAI as far as I can understand, so that adds to my belief. (In that he represents choice. Seriously, he emphasizes choosing and consequences a lot.) I expect him to at the least be a major sidequest.

I think he means Masked Empire.

I'm really looking forward to Imshael, whatever his role is. He was incredibly entertaining in the book, so I hope there's a good bit of banter before we have to kill him.

While they are supposed to be these extremely powerful and ancient demons, their appearances in the games have been pretty underwhelming. The Masked Empire was the first time where one of them appeared to be more than a simple demon with a unique name, and if they appear in DAI I hope we get more info on them and why they are supposed to be powerful and inspire fear.

Also what did we do in DA2? Did we really kill the ancient ones or set them free?

I'd imagine that he'll be an optional boss fight like the rest of the forgotten ones.

and let's not forget that the route of Flemeth is Phlegm, which is also formless and shape-shifting.
A bit of snot for thought, no?

The mostly likely part he will play will be as a side quest, or may be a main quest if he has joined up with whoever is behind the veil tears.  It seemed like it was being set up for us to encounter Michel and him to ask our assistance in hunting for or at least locating Imshael so he can fulfil his vow concerning it.    It may well not be a simple case of killing him though.   Very likely it will involve some form of "choice".     In fact since we don't know precisely what he looks like, you could end up getting involved with him without knowing it.

He'll be in the game I'm sure of it....,and all I care about, is his introduction. I want it to be flashy, and over the top, and I want to hear "call me imshael" so goddamn bad.

I'd be disappointed if Imshael doesn't make an appearance. As I said elsewhere, I think the fact that he considers himself a spirit of choice is going to be important. Choice is kind of what the series is about for a lot of people so I'd be disappointed if he didn't offer us a choice with potentially dire consequences. He found Ser Michel interesting and he was just Celene's champion. I bet he's going to take an interest in the Inquisitor.

i would say they would turn it into a dlc, but then i remember that imshael isnt a "darkspawn magister" and that doesnt fit the pattern they go with for dlc, so yeah he will be a side quest....  hopefully he will talk more than the other two forbidden ones thus far

I hope we get to kill him in Inquisiton. 3/4 Formless One, here I come. (I know they probably don't die, and go to the fade or something.)

Pretty sure demons don't actually "die" when killed in the "real" world, just go back to the fade....although with the breaches happening and everything meshing together :bandit:
