And with that, ladies and gentlemen, the 2014 World Cup in Brazil has officially ended.

It was an amazing world cup and I think you will agree that it was one of the best in years.

The defending World Champions never got the chance to unpack their things.

Here in The Netherlands we got way more than we could ever have predicted. The 5-1 against Spain will go into the history books, the party afterwards as well.

2 African nations made it past the group stages into the knockout rounds to write history and at least one more deserved to go on.

The most powerfull nation in the world fell in love with the most powerfull sport in the world. The USA played daring, offensive matches and were rewarded for it. Along with Howard the Savior they showed the USA what football can do.

We got to see other amazing goalkeepers. Where some WC's are nightmares for them they shined in Brazil. Ochoa, the hero of Mexico. Howard the Savior. Neuer the Defender. Navas and Bravo, names that were not familiar put themselves on the map.

An amazing forward James Rodriguez. Scored the most goals of this WC and was a total revelation. The man that helped his country advance where other 'big' names like Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez and others failed.

The Vampire that strikes again. Suarez once again bites another player (nearly correctly predicted by Druss) which resulted in the larged ban the FIFA has ever given on a WC (but still is too little..)

Colombia and Costa Rica making it far into the tournament but sadly not far enough. Small nations that made a big impact on the world of football this year.

A revived Belgium. For the first time in more than a decade on the World Cup and they showed what they are capable of. They can do great things in years to come.

A worthy goodbye for Cahill. Even though they lost all their matches, Australia was great and should not be forgotten.

A collapse defeat for the home nation. Brazil losing 7 to 1 against an unleashed Germany with 3 goals in the span of 4 minutes. And many, many other goals throughout the entire tournament, breaking records.

Klose,  now officially the World Cup top scorer of all time.

And ofcourse many, many errors by referees that proved to be game breaking. Brazil had to be helped in the very first match. Mexico got denied 2 solid goals. Penalties wrongly given or not given and refs afraid to give cards.

It was a hell of a tournament and the best I can remember since USA '94. I genuinely can't pick a goal of the tournament between Rodriguez, Cahill and RVP. Jones goal for the US was a nice good old fashioned thump too.

It was a tournament for goalkeepers and attackers as some of the defending was diabolical at times. David Luis was hilariously inept as per usual, Bruno Martins Indi at times looked like a penalty waiting to happen, Spains entire defence was allergic to Dutchmen. It wasn't a great time to be a defender. Tim Howard is finally getting the recognition he deserves, another in the line of fantastic US goalkeepers.

We finally had goal line technology. We learned that cannibalism is ok in Uruguay as long as you're good at football. England were an afterthought and might now finally learn that forcing what you mistakenly believe to be world class players into a team that has no place for them isn't a good idea. France were surprisingly good and didn't mutiny. Cameroon were bloody awful and did mutiny. Ronaldo was quickly forgotten and we couldn't count his hair changes anyway. There was no psychic octopus.

The pool went right down to the wire and could have went 4 ways right up until the end almost. CrazyRah joins OBaka and whoever won the first World Cup pool(Harry?) on the list of champions.

And in the end proof that the ancient football saying still holds: In the end, Germany takes the prize.

But maybe more important, a new King of Football here on the BSN: CrazyRah

And all the things I have forgotten to put here

Thank you all for participating, it was a great ride!

It's hard to predict when you haven't watched many of these teams' matches recently. But after some research I'll add my predictions here in a few days.

I'll absolutely participate this time around and not at the very end like in 2012. This will be fun, a bit of research and then i'll be ready to try to predict

I would like to take part.

When can we start posting the scores?

Edit: How many points do we get if we predict a draw? deleted.

You can post your predictions any time you want as long as it is before the deadlines stated in the first post.

In the poule phase a draw will get you the same points as any other result. When a match finishes in 1-1 and you predicted 1-1 you get 10 points, if you predicted 0-0 you get 5 points. In the knockout phase if you predict a draw on 90 minutes you also state who advances, lets say The Netherlands plays Germany and it ends in 1-1 and The Netherlands advances, if you predicted this you get 15 points, if you predicted 0-0 with The Netherlands advances and if you predicted 0-0 with Germany advances or a 1-1 with Germany advances you will get 5 points.

I'd love to be apart of this. I haven't seen a lot of football lately, just a few Everton, Liverpool and Southampton games. But yeah, I'll need to do some research first.

I think I can do pretty well at guessing who will leave the group stage, but guessing the scoreline is kind of impossible!

If you watch the first matches of each group cautiously, you can predict good enough. I hadn't watched many international matches before the last BSN soccer contest and I won the 4th place with my intelligence! I don't know if I can be that good again though...

I think I can do pretty well at guessing who will leave the group stage, but guessing the scoreline is kind of impossible!

Ofcourse it's impossible, otherwise a pool, and the entire WC, would be really really boring!

So.. Shall I add you as well

I'd love to be apart of this. I haven't seen a lot of football lately, just a few Everton, Liverpool and Southampton games. But yeah, I'll need to do some research first.

Added you

So.. what are everybody's plans for the first match of your county?

I am going to some friends to have a BBQ and afterwards we'll watch the match probably with a 'couple' of beers :P

Whoops, seems like a bit of Dutch seeped into my post.

If anyone wants to make changes please do it this way and make a post that you changed something.

Yes. Australia is as hopeless as Iran!

I wonder how many injured people (mostly from Germany) will be cured in the remaining days.
