You can create 2 polls in this thread. As soon as the group stage is finished, you can create a poll about the qualified teams. Maybe: which team will be the champion? and/or, which disqualified team was the most disappointing?

With a perfect score on both the England - Italy and the Ivory Coast - Japan matches The Elder King takes the lead!
I haven't seen any matches yesterday but it looks like some interesting scores
Absolutely nobody got the Uruguay - Costa Rica match even remotely correct.. What happend there that caused Uruguay to lose...?
And a quick reminder that the predictions for round 2 have to be in before the 17th. I have updated the first post with the matches.

Ha, for the second half of round 1 some of my predictions aren't too far off from those The Elder King made, so I guess I can find a little hope in that if nowhere else. ^^
Thanks for hosting this, Kimosabe0 - although I suck big time it's a lot of fun! ![]()

I wake up to notice that the Ivory Coast perfected my horrible yesterday. Now to catch up on the highlights and see what i can hope for in the future. Thank you once again to Italy for saving me from complete disaster

Here's a bit of fun some folk here might enjoy. Pick your greatest world cup XI.
I somehow ended up with a really defensive score even though I chose Cristiano Ronaldo, Zidane, Ronaldo and Bobby Baggio - 5,9,3,6.
I ended up with 7,7,3,6 despite also picking what I thought was a very attacking line up. What was you overall team? I had:
Buffon
Cafu
Desailly
Beckenbauer
Maldini
Dunga
Charlton
Zidane
Maradona
Cruyff
Ronaldo
I thought that was fairly attacking with only Dunga and Desailly the only ones not really known for getting forward.

For no obvious reason, nothing happens when I click on the faces. I tried both on Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Can someone choose this team for me?
Oliver Kahn
Sergio Ramos
Fabio Cannavaro
Roberto Carlos
Philp Lahm
Cristiano Ronaldo
Socratis
Andrea Pirlo
Luis Figo
Ronaldo
Roberto Baggio

SWITZERLAND YEEEEEAH! In the last minute of the game you fulfill my prediction and it feels so good. Otherwise this match has been dull to watch but this makes it worth it

Damn, a lot of people were robbed of their perfect score in the last minute. But now I have points ![]()

What? That was one of the best games of the world cup so far. So many opportunities for both sides, so many missed chances.

Yupp, the pace in the game was so awful and it's a shame since both teams can do so much better with more speed. This game at least really hit the bottom for me.

I'm sure I'm gonna get at least 5 points from Argentina's win. The killing machine: AGUERO-MESSI-HIGUAIN-DI MARIA-LAVEZZI. That's 110% guaranteed! lol
Also the winning of France is 80% possible. Thanks to the African immigrant players and Ribery .... Oh wait, Nasri and Ribery aren't in the list of 23 players. WTH?

Ribery was injured (two weeks ago, I believe), Nasri, I don't know. I think it was a technical choice.I'm sure I'm gonna get at least 5 points from Argentina's win. The killing machine: AGUERO-MESSI-HIGUAIN-DI MARIA-LAVEZZI. That's 110% guaranteed! lol

Won't participate, 'cause I'm bad with predictions (LOL) but I could give feedback from the games.
Here it comes:
Brazil game was robbed to me. Croatia even said that they tought Brazil was going to play with 11 players, not 12(the referee, Lol)As a brazilian myself, I felt quite ashamed for what it took to ''win''... Fred faking the penalty and such. Glad Oscar could make the goal. For me, the game was 2-1.
Mexico game, well, not gonna say anything more than you already know... 2 goals annuled, but Mexico still won. YAAY!
Gervinho was a monster yersterday! As were Van Perse and Robben on The Netherlands game(Good game BTW... they humilliated Spain IMO. Casillas was so unfocused in that match... Like the commentator said, Brazil isn't bringing good memories for the Spanish folks).
Watching France's game now... Go France!
PS: For anyone interested, Brazil's next game will be on Fortaleza.
PPS: Oh, I heard Italia is playing 13:00 p.m in Natal! Damn! Here in Salvador is so hot, imagine Natal...

I read that Nasri was dropped for being too disruptive last time at the World Cup, which makes me wonder why Evra is still there. Nasri's girlfriend then took to twitter to launch some abuse at Deschamp, who is now suing her.
It looks like its only a matter of time until France score, but it feels like there could be a sucker punch delivered if they aren't careful and lose concentration.

What the hell just happened?
Goal? No goal? Jabulani? Why show two bloody replays if its a fact that one crossed the line? I need the goal because a second Benzema goal doubles my winnings. The swines are playing with my heart worse than when the Swiss robbed me of 10 points earlier.

Pro-tip: wait until I've posted my predictions, read them, and then predict the complete opposite of what I've said. You'll win all the points that way.
I'm doing terrible so far.

You're just starting slow like the Spanish. Your real problems will begin when Suarez bites you and I win big points.
Have we considered the effect of the humidity and heat on Ronaldo's hair this year? The poor guy might struggle with it.
