Does this "pool" mean the place people use to swim in or it's the tool to understand what percentage of people choose which stuff?

@Abraham, blessed are those who have watched the friendly matches these national teams had lately! But I didn't watch many. Knowing the players helps a lot, but you should watch the first match of every team carefully to understand their power. Despite they may rock or suck, based on temporary factors! lol

I know that South Korea hasn't been in great shape lately, but how do you know that Russia team is actually in Great shape?!

Imagine that both USA and Russia qualify and finally confront each other... it will be glorious!

I find it really strange that the English language doesn't have another proper word for it (I've checked). It can be whatever you wish, a place to swim in, a certain game you play on a green table with cues or a group of predictions.

In Dutch 'pool' also means an inhabitant from Poland and it is the term for a side of a magnet / the term for those big junks of ice on the top/bottom of the earth..

Btw, I watched the practice match of Belgium vs Tunisia and that stadium really turned into a pool. It was stopped for an hour after massive rain and hail showers.

We can add that to the predictions as well to make it more interesting?
plus things like:
Who will be top scorer?
Who will disappoint the most?
Who will be the most idiotic coach?
How many times will Ronaldo change his hair?
Who will Suarez bite next?

Who will be top scorer? I'm torn on that this year, I've won my bet on it for the past few tournaments. I'm torn between Higuain and Ronaldo
Who will disappoint the most? Player or team? Team I'm tempted to say Germany with their injuries. Player I'll go for Balotelli.
Who will be the most idiotic coach? Hodgson, he will continue playing Rooney even if he does sh*t and has named big time bottler Steve Gerrard as captain.
How many times will Ronaldo change his hair? 64
Who will Suarez bite next? Cerrydd

Hard to say. I need to check the schedule and matches. It will be the fight of the century if Suarez bites Balotelli!

And something lulzy related to soccer:

Who will disappoint the most? Roy Hodgson. Not because he's bad. Quite the contrary. He's a very good manager. It's just, people expect him to get England to win the World Cup, which is unlikely to happen. Come on guys. Give this guy a break.

Who will be the most idiotic coach? I don't think there are any idiotic football coaches. Yeah they make the odd gaff here and there. The only idiotic coach is that one that always breaks down, uses up a gallon of petrol in half an hour and has 7 different mechanical faults. With a coach like that, England football fans will have 2 coaches to be disappointed with instead of one. :P

How many times will Ronaldo change his hair? 45. Each time his hair will look awesome. His hair has always been gorgeous, just like his football.

Who will Suarez bite next? Does Suarez bite people? :o

Probably crappy predictions. I'm completely out of the loop this time, even more so than during the previous cups. My only goal is to not finish last :P

I have to work on Friday night, so sadly I'm missing out on our match against Spain, which is probably the only interesting game we'll be playing this year

Good luck and have fun everyone ^^

It seems UEFA have finally grown the balls to take try and take Blatter down. Should they not have done or said something before the World Cup was handed to Qatar in obviously dodgy dealings?

So, these are my predictions for the first round. I'm genuinely clueless about the actual strengths and weaknesses of most teams this time, so it's a mix of a bit of knowledge, a gorram lot of rather uneducated guesswork and some wishful thinking.

Round 1:

Brazil 2 - 1 Croatia

Mexico 1 - 1 Cameroon

Spain 3 - 2 The Netherlands

Chile 2 - 1 Australia

Colombia 0 - 0 Greece

Uruguay 3 - 1 Costa Rica

England 2 - 2 Italy

Ivory Coast 2 - 3 Japan

Switzerland 1 - 0 Ecuador

France 3 - 1 Honduras

Argentina 3 - 0 Bosnia Herzegovina

Germany 2 - 2 Portugal

Iran 1 - 2 Nigeria

Ghana 0 - 2 USA

Belgium 3 - 1 Algeria
Russia 1 - 2 South Korea

I haven't been as unsure about the chances of my team (Germany) during any of the last championships. So much potential, but...

Ah well, in the end I just hope we get a lot of good matches, with as little injuries and as much fun as possible!  :)

Who will be top scorer? - Messi.
Who will disappoint the most? - Messi, because he won't score against big teams and Argentina will lose.
Who will be the most idiotic coach? - Hard to tell.
How many times will Ronaldo change his hair? - Over 9000.

Ofcourse they should have said something before that but back then there was no proof to the outside world that there was something wrong so there was absolutely no chance that they would get dragged into a bad situation. (Everybody knew what happend but it doesn't matter as long as you can't prove it)

Now that there is proof the UEFA want to show that it has nothing to do with Qatar so that it can absolve themselves of all possible blame and at the same time try to get Blatter to do as they want. The fact that Blatter just announced that he wants to use more technology on the fields proves that much.

Why does everyone in Brazil seem to think that we are going to do good? Brazilian television showed the arrival of the Dutch team live on tv and they are convinced that we will do great. Most people here in The Netherlands don't even expect that we advances beyond the poule stage..

Because you were finallists last time and did well in qualifying I'd imagine. If you get through the group you have a high chance of meeting Brazil in the next round too, so probably just a bit of face saving in case you knock them out.

It's one of those things though, the very fact it happened was proof enough that there was dodgy dealings going down. I guess at least now something is going to be done and WC2022 might be saved from the winter...Maybe...Probably not...
