A very innocent looking play a 2 on 5 ends in a goal by Suarez.

Great ball by Cavani for the goal. I think England have a goal in them though.

Cavani is a striker that I don't think I've ever seen actually play up front. He seems to end up everywhere else on the pitch more than he leads the line. It's a hell of a work ethic but sometimes I think he would be much better served staying right up top using his physicallity to hold the ball up and provide an out ball. Might be why United keep getting linked with him, LVG might be planning on using him on the left with RVP in the middle. Not that we will sign him, but it might explain why we are constantly being linked with another striker.

Oh well... :crying:

I'll look on the bright side.

England is one of the nations of Great Britain.

Team GB did really well in the 2012 Summer Olympic games and managed to win a few medals in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

You know what? I feel better already. :)

[Thinks about the match some more].

Well I'd feel a whole lot worse if I was one of the players, or the manager.

My secondary support team Iran still has a chance.

I like France too. Maybe they could do well.

Who doesn't like Brazil?

Damn, I was hoping for an England victory on this one. @someone who's better at statistics than I am, is it ever possible to continue on with two losses?

England - Uruguay is an even bigger game now, I really hope Suarez is fit.

Turns out Suarez didn't even need to be fit, he could still probably do a job for Uruguay if he was on crutches.

It's possible but it would require all 4 teams to have 2 losses.

I.e. highly unlikely.

If Italy win their two remaining games and England beat Costa Rica in their final game then England could go through on goal difference.

The following scenario would never happen. (Thank goodness).

If Italy one the next game and then deliberately lost a game just to ensure England didn't make it to the next round...

Would the team be in trouble if found out?

Imagine how angry the Italian fans would be.

I don't see why they would do it. It's not like there's that much rivarly between Italy and England to justify kicking them out by intentionally losing against Uruguay.
We suffered something similar in the past (Euro 2004), so I'd be disappointed if we'll do the same.

It won't happen.

The Italian football team has far too much integrity to do something like this.

Yeah, but they need a lot of help from Italy. Basically, Italy has to beat/blow out Costa Rica, then win against Uruguay, and England has to blow out Costa Rica to win on goal differential. England is -2 in GD, whereas CR is +2 and Uruguay is -1. That's a big swing for CR in the negative and England in the positive.

It would be very hard to prove and I don't see why they would bother, it's not like England are a threat to anyone. Plus it's hard enough to get the English media to stop going on about imagined slights, they would go mental if they had a real one to cry about.
