Seriously though, even though it won't happen, ANYTHING to make American Football take a backseat in the US would be fantastic.

I'm hoping for the opposite. If US does good in this Cup 'soccer' becomes a popular sport in the US for next four years. And my little cousin will play for the US national team one day; so I'm biased.
Well, I guess it can have some positive effects (hopefully).

Ironically, their current manager is German, and also happen to be the former manager of the German national team.

Luis Suarez has a statement about what happened.
Paraphrasing here.
"You know how it is. These things happen. No need to make a big deal about it.

You take that back!
I am loving this surging interest in soccer, but football will be high impossible to kill within the next three decades.

Why didn't Tyson use that defense?

He can chew on that statement - and then choke on it.

I had my fun with playing baseball in the 90's, going to the games, watching it being the big thing(Yankees three World Series straight, 98-00, God the memories, playing for my school and my local park).
American Football's got it now, but yeah, hoping for a resurgence in baseball's prominence or ANYTHING replacing AF.
Women's curling, pls

Porra! Germany goal.
I don't like that Suarez has become a scapegoat. Penalize him and let it rest. I've seen worse offenses. Liverpool is being quiet about it and I don't think Uruguay is going to appeal.

There is a growing sentiment in Uruguay that we should withdraw from the World Cup. Personally, I think a better statement would be to win it. ![]()

I want a Maracanazo 2 where Brasil wins it. But it probably won't happen.

That would be a pretty biting statement. It would really shut the mouths of all the people nipping at your heels.

What a horrific keeper gaff on the ronaldo goal. If the goalies these days didn't wear freaking pillows on their hands they might be able to actually catch the ball instead of punching everything out into the box.

Liverpool is waiting for the full text of the decision before doing anything. As for Uruguay, well, their defences was based on the shots of Chiellini's marks being photoshopped. They really don't have something to appeal and try to get a lesser penalty.Porra! Germany goal.

I hate to advance with a loss, but I'll take it.
Not even one goal on the board. Pah.

Thank Portugal
I'm not even rooting for the United States over other teams, I'm rooting for any team I have ancestry from, out of those four teams, I could root for three- Germany, the US, and Portugal.
So win/win, ![]()

So win/win,
Since Ireland is out, all I've really got left is 'Murica.
