Because you were finallists last time and did well in qualifying I'd imagine. If you get through the group you have a high chance of meeting Brazil in the next round too, so probably just a bit of face saving in case you knock them out.
It's one of those things though, the very fact it happened was proof enough that there was dodgy dealings going down. I guess at least now something is going to be done and WC2022 might be saved from the winter...Maybe...Probably not...
Yea but the problem is that we did not do well in qualifying. Sure, against the smaller countries we won but with really bad football and we pretty much lost all the (practice) matches against the better countries (Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Columbia, Japan).
And Blatter will just go on as usual. He will give the tiny football countries a bag of money and will allow some technology and will be allowed to continue..

There is no real point in hoping since it already known who will replace him. After the WC Guus Hiddink will take over who will train Danny Blind to take over after the EC in 2016.

I watched Jornal Nacional (Brazilian news) and they even said the penalty was a bad call. The ref thought he was "holding" and made the call.

With the first match the first influential referee blunders have been made, he really is setting the bar high for biggest blunder this year.
For today's matches predictions are a bit more varied. For Mexico-Cameroon, 10 predict a win for Mexico, 6 predict a draw and 1 predicts a Cameroon win and for Spain - The Netherlands, 10 predict a Spanish win, 5 predict a draw and 2 predict Dutch wins

Well that wasn't the best of matches, but it looks like Fchopin, bFootball and me are tied on 20 points now. I'm crumbling under the pressure already.

Aye, it was a bit crap. Cameroon were happy to defend(badly) and Mexico didn't offer a whole lot to break down their packed defence. Good if you're a fan of dodgy offside calls though.
I'm hoping RVP finds his form against the French and bangs in a couple of goals.
