And Portugal isn't a flop? How many Cups they win? Oh, that's right just as many as the US. And guess who played better than who? Yep, US again. As Fast Jimmy so eloquently put it....

Haters gon' hate.

USA played better than Germany? Are you drunk?

He's saying the US played better than Portugal. Since the US tied Portugal (and probably should have won) and also wound up having more goals total in the Group of Death.

Portugal scored the same number of goals as the US, it's just that Portugal got beaten by Germany by a lot more goals. I'm honestly not a fan of Portugal that much, but I'd prefer them over the US

Well, the guy has a South Korean flag on his head, so I guess they won.

It was really funny, South Korea lost but the guy and some friends started to play some of their korean instruments in the middle of the subway after the match.

I can't say I'm too enthused about what I saw today from our guys against the Germans. Draws and playing close isn't good enough in the knockout stage. Winning is paramount, and I just don't think we have what it takes to beat the likes of Belgium at this stage. I sincerely hope I am wrong, though. Our performance in the "Group of Death" shows how far we have come and how far we still need to go.

Speaking of hope, here's hoping Jozy is ready to go against the Belgians. That will help.

Sooo.. Finally able to read this forum again and update the posts..

I don't really like the USA advancing.John Cleese explainse it really well why: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=2sD_8prYOxo
But. Given the choice between the USA and FC Ronaldo, I'll pick the USA every time.

Ivory Coast got screwed by the referee. Greece never should have had that penalty and then Ivory Coast would be through and not Greece. Ivory Coast deserved it more but they have a tendency to underperform..

Argentina was better last match but if it wasn't for Messi they still wouldn't have won, even with Aguero, Higuain and Di Maria... He seems to be the only one that can score and their defence is really bad.

Belgium played a bit better last match but they still dissapoint me. So far they have only won because of a last minute goal and an amazing Courtois.

Algeria made it past the group phase for the first time in history and they deserved it. They simply were better then South Korea and Russia was totally hopeless this year..

And another nice stat: Never before were there so many goals scored in the group phase; 136 goals in 48 matches

If I were Italy I would appeal against the FIFA ruling of Suarez and demand a way higher punishment. 9 matches and 4 months is absolutely too little. He will probably be able to play for Uruguay again in the next Copa and he will only miss 8 matches at Liverpool since the season doesn't start for a at least a month.
It's his 3rd time biting, the FIFA should have done something significant, this is again proof that the FIFA has no connection to the real world.

Woops   ....totally forgot to give my predictions for round three...

 No you haven't, they are on page 23..

What a horrific keeper gaff on the ronaldo goal.  If the goalies these days didn't wear freaking pillows on their hands they might be able to actually catch the ball instead of punching everything out into the box.

Indeed, way too many keepers seem to be afraid to catch the ball and just try to stomp it away. Ronaldo's goal was a direct result of that wrong decision..

After updating the scores bFootball is the winner of the poule phase with 175 points follwed closely by CrazyRah with 165 points.

Round 1 was a tie between bFootball and CrazyRah followed by Druss

Round 2 was won by bFootball followed by Cerrydd and myself (:S)

Round 3 was won by Smoke and Mirrors followed by Abraham and a 4-way tie for the 3rd place

Smoke and Mirrors made a giant leap, scoring 70 of his 125 point in round 3

And Abraham already has 100 point, eventhough he missed the second round.

And the first post has been updated with the 1/8 finals that start tomorrow.

This is the harshest punishment the FIFA has handed out to date and, to be honest, it's quite excessive. Banning him from attending any stadium to watch a match? 9 matches? FIFA didn't even summon Suárez or Chiellini to get their version of what happened. This was a case of guilty until proven innocent not the other way around. I'm not saying he didn't deserve a sanction 'cause he did. But looking at it as if I were a juror in a court of law there's little evidence for the prosecution's case and more than enough reasonable doubt.

My predictions.

Brazil 3-1 Chile
Colombia 2-1 Uruguay
Netherlands 0- 1 Mexico
Costa Rica 2-1 Greece
France 2-1 Nigeria
Germany 2-1 Algeria
Argentina 2-0 Switzerland
Belgium 1-2 United States

The United States of America has a really good football team.

I reckon they'll beat Belgium.

But what about Suárez's film career?

Vinny Jones can step aside and make way for Suárez.

He can be the new "Mean Machine".

Heck I'm sure there's an X-Men mutant he can play as. Right?

Seriously though, even though it won't happen, ANYTHING to make American Football take a backseat in the US would be fantastic.

Funnily enough, I have this sentiment when it comes to the 'schland Football team, simply due to the obnoxious German commentary. Quoth prior to Germany's match with Ghana: "Let's hope they [the Germans] tear apart Ghana."

Didn't quite work out that one, eh. It's not even an isolated incident, that, which is why I hope Algeria humble Jogi and his overhyped crew and make those commentators eat their words for good.

I usually agree with sentiments like this about the FIFA, they are are dictoral organisation that only cares about profit, they have proven that time and time again. Blatter needs votes for another term? Just thow some money at the smaller football nations and the board and everything is well and done.

However, here that is less the case. There is overwelming evidence that he bit Chiellini. There are videos from both behind and in front of him, plus the obvious bitemarks in Chiellini's neck. Not to mention Suarez' history of exactly this kind of thing.

He might have been prejudiced against but Uruguay and Suarez had a chance to defend their point, they had a couple of days to come up with a defence. The best they could come up with was that 'things like this happen'..

You can argue away a hard tackle as an accident but a bite is not something that just happens in football (or any other sport for that matter). If Suarez didn't play on the highest level and wasn't so famous he would have had a lifetime ban from football in pretty much every country so why not here? This is, in my eyes, the lack of justice the FIFA displays.
