Just an excellent game.  Yet another one in a long list this world cup.  Things have come a long way from some previous world cups that darn near kllled the game.,

Earthbound can confirm that when Green was substituted in I said, "How amazing would it be if this young kid scored for the U.S. and revitalized the team?"

I've been eerily accurate with calling goals, dear lord

Also, Tim Howard is directly related to Schweinsteiger, it's the only explanation

Granted I missed Argentina's and France's matches, but as for the rest of the group of 16, Columbia is the only team I can honestly say has dominated their opponents.

I'm sad about the US being out, but damn, they went down fighting! Now if Belgium promises to kick boring Argentina's ass I'm okay with it...  :P

Can we have Argentina thrown out for being boring and replace them with the US? They are great to watch, despite not being all that good.

No.

Di Maria > whole USA team

Fixed that for you. The All Seeing Eye is the only explanation for being able to block that many goals for 90 minutes.

Schweinsteiger is Odin, mkay

But damn, did he set a new record? What's the final count for total blocks by Tim Howard?

Top games for me were Germany vs Portugal, Germany vs Algeria,  USA vs Belgium, and Netherlands vs Spain

Yup, he did establish a new World Cup record for a single game with 16 saves.

So far most of the qualified teams (which half of them are kicked out this week) know how to defend and have a super ready goal keeper, but the forwards in most of them have gone down to the toilette level and this makes the games exhausting.

This is so interesting: for the first time ever since the World Cup expanded to 32 teams, the 8 group winners have made it into the quarter-finals.

On top of that there was two records set today. Howards 16 saves as has already been mentioned and I believe Di Maria set a record for giving the ball away in one game. I think his total was 51 times or something ridiculous. So Arsakes might want to think again.

Six words: TIM "THE ALMIGHTY FRIGGIN WALL" HOWARD!

The man deserves to have several rivers and lakes, or at least a middle-sized town, named after him.

The rest of team needs to prostrate themselves before Tim while sensually kissing his cleats.

He scored one goal and could have scored another if the Swiss goalkeeper wasn't A-class AND HE DID A GREAT JOB IN 2013-14 REAL MADRID.

Nuff said.

I'm going to a trip soon, so I'm gonna predict the next round sooner (tomorrow).

It's 3 AM, goodnight.

And vice versa, you can confirm that with no affiliation to either team, I supported the US only because I said their keeper looked like a badass. Too right with that one.

Though that'd be the first time my predictions were accurate.

It looks like every losing team had at least 1 massive chance in the dying seconds to win the match. Once again, the keepers were the heroes of their nations.

Belgium was the better side during the normal playtime but in the extra time, especailly the second, the USA could have easily won it.

@feliperaya, nice that you saw the game in the stadium, just to bad it was a really boring one:P

Congratulations to Druss who predicted the Belgium game perfectly and jumps to the top of the leaderboards because of it.

I've updated the first post

The 1/4 finals are known and predictions need to be in before the first match Friday 4 July:

Brazil - Colombia

France - Germany

Netherlands - Costa Rica

Argentina - Belgium

Can I say that Columbia wins? lolno

So:

Brazil 2  -  1 Colombia

France 2  -  3 Germany

Netherlands 2  -  0 Costa Rica

Argentina  2 -  1 Belgium

Just because Muller was like a drunk in their last match it doesn't mean Germany is doomed!

And I only see Germany and Netherlands worthy of the cup.
