No Krul-in-the-box this time. Congrats Argentina!

Hurm, so over the course of 120+ minutes plus penalties Holland and Argentina combined managed to score one goal more than Germany did in less than the first 30 minutes?!  :P

Congratulations on the worldcup Germany.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. I was concerned about Argentina's defense going into the tournament, and it definitely showed for the first couple of games (Bosnia, Nigeria). But surprisingly, their defense have been on point against Belgium and Netherlands. If they keep it up, Argentina WILL come out on top against Germany.

Check this out, this Brasil fan has class.

The man was holding a mock up of the World Cup trophy;after his team's defeat at the hands of Germany, he handed the trophy to a German fan.

This man deserves a standing ovation. It's like the ending to a movie, someone pls fund it.

<Photo>

This man deserves my respect! I saw him on TV, and then I tought, hell old man... You're holding sooooo strongly this cup. FUUUUUU;

That shot of him hugging the trophy with tears in his eyes did break my heart just a little bit during the game.

Cool, but Imma just correct that last bit.

<PHOTO>

<GIF>

I actually laughed about that... Does that makes me unpatriot? (Lol, jk :D)

Yup, same here. Although there were many shots of fans and players of Brazil alike that made me sad. I really wanted it to stop after the 4-0, it was just too much. If our team had kept on playing the second half with the same concentration and will it might well have ended with a double-digit result.

So yeah, condolences to all the Brazil fans here, I can only imagine how hard this must be for you guys!  :( Fingers crossed the team will have somewhat recovered by Saturday, so they can leave the Cup on a slightly more positive note!

You and every single brazilian wanted to end it on 4-0(or 4-1 if Oscar made the goal).

But thank you for your kind words! :)

To all the idiots saying the germans were heartless monsters (I dont think there are any in this thread) ...

<MANY MANY MANY PHOTOS>

I doubt there is a lot of people who said the Germans were heartless. And I doubt most Brazilians would blame the German team for anything other than for playing good soccer. They practically treat soccer as an informal religion and know good play if they see it, even if it's from someone who just took out their own team from their own world cup. Brazilians are larger than that when it comes to soccer.

Yah(Sorry for any German people out here), but I didn't saw anything on this on TV. It made me enraged. That a good team as Germany wouldn't show compassion for a massacre. But, well, I was wrong, so Kudos to them :)

This guy is famous here in Brazil, he goes to the their WC games since 1990.

Lul, I didn't know that either.

Edit: Made the post smaller, by deleting the Photos.

Meh, zie Orange lost -- Was hoping for a fun finale with Germany & Holland. Feel kinda bad for Brazil seeing their archenemies reaching the finals in over 20 years and on their home turf.

Yah, I actually wanted Brazil VS Argentina on the 3rd place dispute. Oh well...

But damn, who will I cheer for?

Not at all. Nothing like being able to take a joke at your own (or your countries) expense.

I know I can. Kind of a pre-requisite if you're English and watch the world cup really.

I have just waited for this to be said. Ah, the Satisfaction.

"Seriously now, does anyone here belive the Argentinians have a real chance? In the last two World Cups our Germans beat them every time. And in the form of the semi-finals we surely have the best national team at the moment."

I am sure deliberately posting in the wrong language to elicit a reaction has a term coined for it.

I am also pretty sure it is not "satisfaction". I advise you to peruse the ToS. Next time use the appropriate language if you want to participate.

I'm a little late for this post I'm about to make, but whatever.

It has been nice to see people from all over the world giving support to Brazil after that loss, and doing so without taking credit away from Germany. I'm tired of negativity and pessimism (in and outside the sport), so, thanks everyone!

Hoping that Germany wins this!

Even before the match started I almost fell asleep thinking about it, it was always going to be boring with 2 really defensive sides.

And now Van Gaal didn't put Krul in the goal with penalties and see what happens.. I'm not saying that he would have saved us but he would have had a way better chance that Cillisen; the Argentinian penalties really weren't that good.

Now we don't get a Germany vs Netherlands final and we don't get to take revenge against both them and Argentina.. :(

The last two matches:

Small final:

Brazil - Netherlands

Final:

Germany - Argentina

Aw, my most favourite enemy (and my most favourite neighbour) didn't make it to the finals. :(

Well, that's even better than I hoped. :) I was afraid of an all-European final, to be honest.

The game vs. Argentina: booooooooooooooring. So far I have watched every single late game to the very end. But after 20 minutes into the second half I went to sleep because the game made me so awfully tired. Yes, if nothing really happens the defense is good; and the forward attempts usually were stopped by some defenders as it should be but... I had expected more. I didn't expect a 0-0 after regular time, more like a 1-1 or 2-2.

Germany vs. Argentina - chance to become another classic if played right. I hope for a win, of course. And good luck to Brazil.

Yes. 2 (3-1)s!

And now in English for the non-German speaking majority of this international forum please ...

Even considering the Canadians, I can say that Germans are the biggest minority here. I'm a non-German and I don't find German language that hard... to be continued...

Oh, come on, give them some rest. They will be reminded of this often enough in future world cups. Or every time Brazil faces Germany again - the next Confed Cup maybe?

Congrats to Argentina for making it to the finals, always felt something about them was doing well enough to drag them all the way even if they really never have impressed me at all this WC. But that's usually a decent sign itself to win without impressing
