Besides The Netherlands I also support Belgium.

They are our nice neighbours (especially here in the south of The Netherlands) and they haven't played a big tournament in over 10 years. But this year they have a really good team.

I thought you Dutch tend to make fun of Belgians like Americans make fun of Canadians, Englishmen make fun of both Scots and Irish etc. Neighbour stuff, you know

I agree, Belgium has a really impressive team this time.

Ofcourse we make fun of them :P

Belgium is like the little brother of The Netherlands. For a time they were one country, now we have become separate but similar. We make fun of them but we also pity them for not having all the great things that we have :P.

Plus, a lot of players currently in the Belgium team started out in The Netherlands so we know a bit about them.

Well, we lost Buffon for the match against England, and I'm a bit skeptical on our defence (which is ironic since we always had a great one, it's always the strongest part of our team), so my worries grew up a bit.
I hope Sirigu will play a good match today. He's a good goalkeeper, though he's not Buffon.

Well, I'm officially panicking now. In 2010, during Buffon's last early exit, we did abysmal. I think the problem is that the Coach and younger players build Buffon/Pirlo up into these legendary reputations so when something bad happens and they can't play, our morale takes a huge hit.

And ditto on the Netherlands support. After that match against Spain, I'm very impressed.

Yeah, I agree. I hope that this time things will be different. We still have Pirlo and De Rossi that Could lead the team (in term of experience), but I'm concerned as well. I hope Balotelli steps up and play a good and match.
I was impressed by Netherlands, though I was always a fan of them. And they had a huge loss at midfield with Strootman's injury (I seriously hope he won't leave Rome).

First and foremost I support Germany. England is still second in appreciation.

Besides those two there are quite a few other teams I root for, though those use to change frequently based on a variety of factors. Sometimes it's only for a single player I like (Croatia/Ivica Olic), sometimes because I like the country itself (Japan), sometimes because they need to be there for things to be interesting (Italy) etc.

What's this about Buffon not playing? That would suck...  :(

Pfft, what an agony. Columbia won just because of its "strength" and bad job of Greece goalkeeper, not because of being particularly technically superior.

I might as well stop predicting 'draw results'.

He's injured. The most recent news seem to lead even to abandoning the WC.
Contrast to the Colombia team, though i was this close to guessing the exact result :P.

I'll think twice before thinking about draws in the future. So far i've missed horribly on the two games i've predicted a draw. Spain-Netherlands and Colombia-Greece >..<

I did the same on Spain-Netherlands, and Mexico-Camerun (my fault though, with the problems they had I should've bet on Mexico).

I'm getting a bit worried for Italy(my team for the day) now, it's weird they usually come into tournaments with their defence marshalled by one of the worlds best defenders(Maldini, Baresi, Nesta, Cannavaro, etc.) but they just don't have anyone on that level anymore. Now without Buffon too, I'm a bit worried that they won't deliver a win against England. I do like the look of their midfield though and you never know what you might get from Balotelli.

I actually wasn't that bothered about England before the tournament, they are a nothing team and the hilarity of them getting beat had lost it's lustre when they realised they weren't the best in the world. But the fact that every single bloody match that has been shown on UK tv has cut away for some half arsed sh*te about England and their chances has brought back that old feeling of wanting to see them utterly humiliated and put out in the groups just to get a break a from hearing about them. It's like they don't get they are broadcasting to 4(possibly 5, I think it goes out to the Republic of Ireland too) countries and 3(or 4) of those countries don't care about England and are there to watch two other teams that aren't England, not to have every single guest analyst grilled about Englands chances and every half time discussion being cut short to go talk about England.

English fans are mostly an alright and humble bunch, Hodgson is likable enough, they have got rid of most of that generation of hateful tw@ts they were cursed with playing for them (still lumbered with Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney. Sturridge and Harte don't help matters either). But Jesus the English media do a fantastic job of making them so easy to hate.

Will there be a side bet pool for the amount of C. Ronaldo bursting into tears? It's not a proper soccer event without that.

When he had that empty net towards the end and had the ball just nicked away from him before he could poke it in...it just felt right. Like it was the natural outcome in that situation. Like a Rooney red card tonight or Gerrard making sure a camera is on him before attempting to be what he thinks a leader is.

Oh no, you're wrong about Gerrard, Druss. Lee Dixon just said he's 'humble' and always 'does himself down'.......and that came from Lee Dixon so you just know it's an iron clad fact. ;)

I feel exactly the same way as you do about England, it seems. It's their media that manages to foster so much animosity from the other home nations.

 That's me told. I usually think Dixon is alright, but like the rest of the English media he has completely rewritten the facts about Gerrard. In their imaginary land he is completely selfless, plays fro the team and has never demanded a transfer from Liverpool for more money at Chelsea. Never trust a word Gerrard says either...

Are you in the pool, Cato?

Glad to see Diego Forlan starting one last World Cup. Diego, oh eh oh, Diego. He comes from Uruguay. He made the Scousers cry. Diego, oh eh oh, Diego.

My predictions are getting smashed left and right, one suprise always happen but two of this magnitude just in the opening games? I'm thrilled and bring it on! More, more of this!
