I think that makes sense. But imo the original, old Sub Zero was more badass. Going and fighting not one, not two, four gods and beating the crap out of them in the way of getting the amulet was incredible. But then he fell to Scorpion whom he killed earlier. But I think being killed by your own apprentice, how younger sub zero died at the hands of Frost, seems more shameful. But He is still my top favorite in The series. Along with Jade. Jade is just so beautiful.
But in the trailer, did you notice something? Sub Zero beats the crap out of Scorpion but in the end Scorpion wins and does a fatality.
Also, did you notice that the X-Ray attack for scorpion in the first trailer was that two phases kick he pulled off but in the gameplay trailer it was that double chain thing?
Sub-Zero never got killed by Frost, she froze him took his dragon amulet which backfired on her, and then Sub-Zero left her at a cyromancer temple thinking she was dead.
Yeah, Scorpion is Ed Boon's favorite which is why he usually wins in trailers.
Also that cgi trailer was to give an idea about whats in the game, like Scorpion probably won't have that decapitation and sword throw fatality from the cgi trailer.
Where it is said that he works for Quan Chi? cause seriously, he can do far better than that.
Well, Sub Zero in MK9 was completely transformed to a robot and as you said died. So this alternate Costume is invalid as we saw during the game. And hell, if Sub Zero is rsurrected somehow, why his eyes are normal and are not like Scorpion`s? and why would they fight each other when they both work for him?
In story mode Raiden tries to bargain with Quan Chi at one point saying that should he or any Earthrealm warriors die Quan Chi can keep their souls in the Netherrealm, to which Quan Chi laughs at and tells Raiden that Shao Kahn already made that deal. Following up with having the guys who got killed by Sindel's attack showing up to fight Raiden.
What happens in a trailer doesn't equal what happens in the story, so Cyber Sub-Zero could be in the story.
