The only Mass Effect 4 i would buy is one where synthesis is canon, ill also buy the game if its a prequel or if it doesnt take any endings in to account
EDIT: also, if a ME game is ever made where destroy is the canon ending i will even refuse to accept its existence
How -I- would do Mass Effect 4.

If Bioware goes for a post-ME3 sequel they really are going to either a.) just say this is the ending and let the stuff hit the fan b.) make it far enough out that you can be horribly vague on what happened with the Reapers to make it legend where you can get different stories from different people on it like, I heard this is how it happened and later someone says something like, oh that is silly this is how it happened. Make it legend basically.

I'm thinking about gameplay at the moment but when it comes to the story they did say that unlike the first Mass Effect you would start the game as a nobody in the N7 day stream they didn't say it straight up but they droped hints, When it comes to this I think it is a good concept, but will it be good that's what I want we have been waiting a while so I hope that it is done right. When it comes to gameplay I want to have full controll over my character from the armor to the clothes and her ship I would like more hand to hand combat, that needs an overhaul. I don't want paragon or renegades anymore think more like Inquisition but instead of saying they do not like this I want to know how they feel. I want some emotional controll over my character and what emotions are shown can be based on you're characters personallity. I also want more roleplay so instead of just going to buy guns you can train to become biotic or have some augmentations done or buy clothes for casual wear. Get a flat at the 'Citadel' if it's included.

Mass Effect 1... with slightly better combat and more exploration (as in detailed planets).

-Disregard the train wreck that was ME3's lore and start off with a fresh bunch of characters and a fresh protaganist.
-I think it'd be best to stay away from cameo's as there's too many characters to cover reasonably, and only covering a select few is flame bait. Just forget about them and focus on making a kickass new set.
-Make the quality (of the story in particular) such that I do not remember ME3's ending.
-Flesh out the MP a bit but don't go overboard with it. It is some seasoning on the side, nothing less, nothing more. If it isn't a clear step forward from ME3's, which is not a big demand at all, it's a waste tbh. Also, SP-MP integration should AT MOST be visual mods and have NO (or trivial) gameplay or story ramifications.
-Don't do any performance or gameplay related cross platform implementations (if you use gameplay elements to try to force feed me a mobile game I am going to start calling you Ubisoft). If you really must link it with some goddamn mobile game, strictly aesthetic options only. I see no major issue with an alternate set of outfits for squaddies or something like that.
-I think killing off any of the 'important' races wholesale is a bad idea. Marginalize, but don't eliminate. Again, flame bait. Even with a race that is already marginalized lorewise such as the Krogan or Quarians, I think it'd be shortsighted to weaken your own lore by removing chunks of it. Even if they aren't featured (which I believe would be a mistake) make it obvious that they are out of the area and not dead.
-I see no issue with adding additional races, even if they are just the "storm troopers" of the game. Just ensure that they are unique, interesting, plausible, and well fleshed out. I do not see the value of additional 'fanservice' races however.
-Disregarding ME3, the weakest point lorewise in ME3 was the factions, the only noteworthy exception being Cerberus. Other than Cerberus, there were individuals and racial governments and little to nothing in between. Blood pack, Blue Suns, Eclipse, etc. could certainly use a bit of their own emphasis, and I would like to see the rise of new factions. I would like them to be something more than interchangeable killables if possible. Give them backgrounds, beliefs, compositions, leaders, goals, allies, enemies, mindset, etc. and display it in gameplay and not just the codex. As an example, I really liked how New Vegas handled factions. Each faction had its own identity and did what it did for its own mostly plausible reasons. I think that would really break new ground for ME4 lorewise.
-No mini-games please. Mining, hacking, etc. Little value to them.
-I do not care if vehicles are implemented or not. If they are there, I want them to be good.
-I would be content with 20-30 hours of primary mission gameplay (excluding side missions and transit). More would be better, but only if its good content (no fluff please!)
-I would be content with 6-10 squaddies in the VANILLA GAME. THAT IS, WITHOUT DLC, and not including the sucker(s) that inevitably die within the first 20 minutes of gameplay. Preferably more than 6 if the game features 'forced death' scenarios such as Virmire.
-The plot does not have to be some grand "SAVE DA UNIVERSE" scenario, but it does have to feel compelling. Personally I wouldn't mind if the PC had to choose between personal and organizational goals somewhat often.
-NO RUSHED OR BROKE MECHANICS
TL:DR I want ME2 with a solid MP and good factions.

Never bring back the Catalyst or mention him again.

That's all.
And Tali for the win.
