What did Flemeth mean when she said, "You have my thanks and my sympathies"?

She said this in DA2 after you release her from the amulet and she's about to leave. What do she mean? What sympathies? Is she hinting at Hawke's long, hardships ahead in DA2 or she hinting at the plot of DA:I?

Because you're playing DA:2

...

To be serious, she's probably talking about Hawke's hardships, yes.

I would possibly say both. She's extremely cryptic, and its my belief that she creates the conflicts in Thedas just as much as she aids heroes in solving them (kind of like playing God or being the world's DM).

But I would definitely say that she's offering sympathies for Hawke who really gets it rough.

She means all the turmoil that Hawke is about to experience living in Kirkwall.

She can read the future to a certain degree (she knew the Blight was coming) so yeah she probably foresaw Leandra and your sibling's potential death.

I think she means... thanks for making it simpler for me to come back to life.

Could be both, but probably most because of Hawke's hardship ahead, yes. His mother dying, his sibling potentially dying. Half of his companions being emo as ****..

All that shizz.

Hawke's mom dying was plotted by Flemeth so Hawke can get out of the Freudian trap and bang Merril.

Flemeth knew what the future held for Hawke.  She didn't seem to know any specifics, but she knew.  Hawke had a very unfortunate life.

Since this is Flemeth related... The implications of the Silent Grove are big. Flemeth is indirectly responsible for Ferelden's independence from Orlais (High Dragon attack). Roped Maric into a bargain. And then collected. A fear years later she sets the Warden, Alistair, and Morrigan on a path.

Fighting a clairvoyant trickster demon is hardly fair.

Like others have said: she probably has some premonition that Hawke's life was going to take a downhill turn (well, more than it already had) very soon.

Those particular words are purely addressed to Hawke and obviously refer to the various events to come including the death of Hawke's mother.

More pertinent to DAI is the speech immediately before this when she says "We stand upon the precipice of change.  The world fears the inevitable plunge into the abyss."  This sounds much more a premonition/prediction or even an indication that Flemeth is in some way mixed up with the events of DAI.

I've always wondered what appointment she needed to keep and why she wished to reach the area of Kirkwall unseen.   People have said it referred to her confrontation with the Warden but I don't think so.   It wouldn't surprise me if she was involved in the events that had the Grey Wardens so agitated or that she saved Hawke in order that they could be in the right place to free Corypheus.    Anyway, since we've met up with her in the previous two games, it would be highly unusual not to at least have some sort of meeting in DAI.

Yeah, he warning co-related to what Morrigan said at the end of Witch Hunt. Also, the appointment was the confrontation between the Warden and Flemeth because it was a significant event that would severely affect both Flemeth and Morrigan.
