Hi there, in my experience in playing Bioware games, and most games in general, subtitles mostly come with only a few options like on/ off or only on during cinematic scenes or conversations, etc. etc.

I don't know if this happens to other people at times, say when you're running through a market place or somewhere your companions and other NPCs talk. Sometimes they all end up talking at the same time or the audio tweaks out or you're in an intense battle and all the sound effects cancel out the voice audio, and you end up not hearing what they say. I hate not being able to hear banter or not being able to understand part of what they're saying so I thought having another option that allows us to have subtitles on only while we're exploring, walking around and during combat. This way, while you're chatting, you can 'watch' conversations without reading them and while exploring, you know what your companions are saying when dialogue isn't your main focus.

I know this is a minor issue and that subtitles have greater purposes than this but it's just something I personally thought would be helpful for people who have the same issue.

Thanks for reading  :)

I completely agree, I always found it irritating it was not an option. I've wanted subtitles just for companion banter for ages.

That would be pretty nice.

Don't the games already have that kind of option ? In both Origins and DA2 you have 3 options for subtitles: no subtitles, conversations only (cutscenes & cinematics) and always on (conversations + ambient dialogue). If you pick the 'always on' option the party banter will appear over the characters' head when they're talking.

They do appear over their heads when talking with the option! I'm not always sure where the dialogue triggers are in each map though so I have had the problem where I'll accidentally have clicked a transition marker or vendor just as dialogue is triggered and it gets washed out when I either enter the new area or exit the merchant screen.

I'd love a "recent dialogue" box in the journal screen, even if it was just the last 20 or 30 lines (to save on memory use).

The more options available for subtitles, the better! They can really help hearing-impaired/Deaf people enjoy video games. Maybe even having tone descriptions for dialogue, that's a feature to consider.

Dialogue page in the journal (like in DAO) would be nice, even though that does not record banter.

Yes they do, but what I am saying is to have an option where only ambient dialogue appears. I personally find subtitles distracting during scripted events because I always end up reading instead of watching   :D

Bringing back the dialogue page would be great, especially if it recorded banter  :)

I get it now, and yes that would be pretty useful. I also have the tendency to only read the subtitles and not watch the scene play out so I'd like that only ambient option too.
