I like to walk like that and I don't think we should shame women for wanting to be sexy.
Would you really think about how sexy you look while you kill people and demons? Or while wondering for days through woods and caves?

Yeah I'm rolling a femQuizzy first run (and I'm really liking the voice in the trailer) so I'm really hoping I don't get badly done or exaggerated animations on her. A normal brisk walk would suit me perfectly.
Especially considering most of the time she's probably gonna be walking in dirt roads/grass/mud/othermuck or trying to get from A to B in a hurry before the hole in the sky explodes.
This is an interesting point, and my answer to the question would be no. Of course, I never noticed that FHawke walked like a hooker either, not even after having it pointed out to me here, and logging in to see. Her hips do sway a bit, but most of the girls that I know suffer from this same syndrome: The I'm a girl, and walk like one syndrome. Now, I'll have to roll a rogue and a warrior to see what's different, but the mage I looked at? I don't see what the fuss is about.
It's a specific walk where you cross one foot in front of the other and also exaggerate your hip movements on purpose.

Now don't get me wrong, I actually love this walk, I think it's super sassy and fun but it doesn't fit for adventuring or combat. It looks fine on a mage since they wear clothing, but for a woman in full plate to walk like that is ridiculous >_< better to have them all be neutral/natural
Here is a more natural walk (on the left):

How about both male and female mages get a sassy walk and both male and female warriors get a gorilla walk?
Why it gotta be a gorilla walk? I despised dude Shep's jog in ME2. His head kept tilting to the side like there was something wrong with him.

Maybe he had the 'look both ways' rule too deeply engraved in his brain and does so constantly out of fear of being hit by a stray taxi >>

Works for me.
Though I prefer it if you can either choose your walk or everyone gets a neutral walk. (my male rogue might want a sassy walk too!)

lmfao but it was so creepy how he was pretty much craning his neck at someone while walking away.

Yeah it kind of was hmm maybe he enjoys people watching a bit too much after all in ME3 he was eavesdropping on just about everyone to get side missions but then again female sheps did that too.

There is no compromise! Sassy mages, gorilla mundies.

Yeah he's a uber eavesdropper.

Bah
No, but tbh idk, what's with these walk animations, just too many games do it right, it isn't supposed to be a big deal, and then I come to these forums and these animations are discussed often.

Well I do like to look the best I can even when I'm covered in demon guts....
I wish we had somewhat of an inbetween from DaO and Da2, a little bit of hip wiggle but like as others have said, not straight up model walking. I kind of found it distracting in Da2, plus the idle standing animation looked like it would hurt you to stand in such a way.
I'm not sure if this has been linked, but a funny video pointing out how silly female Hawke walked in Da2.
imagining the FemQunari revealed earlier walking like that is hysterical.
Why though? She looks like a model for the most part. Actually you know what even the horns fit. One of those more bizarre shows.

I stand like that all the time. It's just a habit. The walking on the other hand is a very inefficient form of locomotion.
I prefer gender-neutral animations. DA2 femHawke's animations were pretty ridiculous. It was like a bad stereotype of how women walk and/or stand. When you go the route of gender-based animations, you run the risk of bad stereotypes like that. Gender-neutral is the way to go, and by that I mean animations that aren't overly masculine like that sitting with legs splayed open pose in Mass Effect or femHawke's overly girly, sashaying way of running.
So I noticed that the qunari lady in today's trailer had a pretty great, gender neutral run, but she's got the Lady Hawke sashay when walking. Sort of a... compromise, I guess? Thoughts?
Edit: good shot of walking animation at about 6:20.
I like it. XD

The walking doesn't look as exaggerated as Female Hawkes did to me but the run is a wonderful improvement she doesn't look like her butt is about to sling up and slap her in the back of the head like Female Hawke's did. I normally have my PC running anyway so this for me at least won't be a big problem unless we've got to press a button repeatedly to run then it might be. Again I think her walk is much better than Female Hawke's walk doesn't look as exaggerated to me but I do see where you get the comparison I'm just happy its seems to have been toned back a bit.

Decent. Seems less over-exaggerated than DA2.

Yeah. I rushed here to say I told you so. The other feminist/tumblr thread doesn't seem to be up in arms about it. I was wrong about the Qunari though, she actually looks really rather masculine overall.
Yes running looks great, and the floppy clothes! Reminds me of swtor, which speaking of, I thought had a great female walking animation. Bring on the skirts. Hair still looks last-last gen though unfortunately.
^ Aren't you overreacting. As far as I know some people never even use walk in their games. I'd much prefer if it was like swtor's but it doesn't bother me that much. It's still better than anything in ME2 and shared animations.
