I think this would be a fun thing to throw around...or shoot all to hell depending on your receptivity to the idea.
Imagine that the next Mass Effect game (NME) is "open world" in the sense that you can continue playing, mopping up some side quests and putzing around after you complete the campaign. Like ME2, but with much more content to keep you busy. Maybe not as big as Skyrim with as many rabbit holes to get lost in, but you get the idea, right?
Now, imagine this:
Telltale (responsible for the acclaimed "The Walking Dead" and "The Wolf Among Us" series) develops a episodic game that runs parallel to NME. Different main character. Different quests and such, but it takes place during the same time frame.
Now what if the games "talked" to each other! For example: In the Telltale game you make some big decisions in one episode. These decisions determine your world state in NME! So, if you chose to blow up some building in the Telltale game, that building would be destroyed in your NME and you'd hear about on ANN. Also, the progress you make in the Telltale game unlocks more quests for you in NME. The tone of the quests (i.e. the mood of the NPCs) or the nature quests themselves will vary depending on what you do in the Telltale game.
Also, wouldn't it be great if the decisions you make in NME also influence what you see/do in the Telltale game? It's a two way conversation where the actions in one game impacts the other and vice versa.
I dunno, I thought it was a nice idea...
