In the newest trailer, the Inquisition is attacking the Grey Wardens but I noticed that they aren't in the Free Marches blue and brown but it looks like black and silver so I was wondering what faction our we attacking? Ferelden? Orlais? Is the Silver Order at Vigil's Keep? Do the Grey Wardens share the same uniform colors all over Thedas or does each nation vary?

My personal theory is that they're controlled by Corypheus, and that to make them different from the other Wardens they made their uniform colour black instead of blue.

That helmet is so impractical... Sorry I had to say it. It's like you're asking to get grabbed by the 'wings' and stabbed in the face.

Nah I think it's the same uniform. And I think we'll only be fighting Wardens depending on past choices and choices made in Inquisition. Like the genophage variables in ME3.

The Grey Wardens dont distinguish themselves in that way so i wouldnt think that they're Fereldan just because of the color scheme they're wearing

Ever heard of the Teutonic Knights? Seems to be wear the design was inspired.

Well, it makes them know to everybody and helps the Warden-Commander stand out from the rest.

(Monotone)There are no factions of Grey Wardens, they exist as semi-autonomous commands throughout the nations of Thedas.

Either way, if Grey Wardens are under attack by the Inquisition, then there is a good reason for that.

I know. The fact that it was based on the Teutons doesn't make it less impractical.

I don't think the change in colors necessarily means anything. It's a new engine and every armor set is bound to look a bit altered. It could also just be the lighting that's making the blue look so dark.

you have to reach it first, without losing your hand to the swing of the sword in the process.

another issue is that helmet is closed, and those guys are fighting in close combat. line of sight is limited, also it's hard to breath i bet.

btw - what new trailer? can somebody give me a link please?

No, the fact the Teutonic Order, a military order, used them heavily should be a clear indication that they're not as impractical as you're implying, if impractical at all. Reaching up to grab someones helmet leaves you exposed. I doubt something someone would do often against an elite Knight. You'd have to be close enough to grab them while avoiding their weapon. Plus they were also on horse back a lot which would eliminate much concern

well thank you, but it's not very new and i already saw this trailer.

also. this re-use of old armor set for wardens... kinda sad.

also: yesterday Raptr actually made me the offer to preorder DAI. and genre of this game according to Raptr is adventure/action.

anyway on topic. with all honesty i don't really care what faction this is.I will play this game as if i have no Warden Commander or Hawke. Clean slate. So for me they would be just enemies.

I think thats why they put "newest"

Why is bringing back a previously used armor set, sad? When was it an obligation to rehash everything for new game installments.

Same, i dont care about my past characters im playing this character in the moment

Personally, I like the consistency.

My DAO game is modded so the Templars and Wardens will be wearing the DA2 armors; unfortunately, I haven't yet found one that changes Ferelden armor into the one introduced by the Warrior Pack.

Corphyeus Wardens, because they needed another faction for Dragon Age player.  :)

I agree for the most part. Each faction should instantly be recognizable (unless they're trying not to). But unless it's a rank and file situation I'd like for there to be slight variations from character to character and game to game.

That'd only make sense if they're fighting unarmed. Sword reach is typically longer than arm reach, which makes it awfully hard to grab people's fancy helmets. Tons of cultures had random stuff on their helments(many going for intimidation factor).

Not a great idea when fighting rogues, but fairly safe when fighting other armoured warriors.

I will not attack grey wardens. Darkspawn is biggest threat to Thedas, so I will help them.

I still think they're people pretending to be wardens or who mind controlled some wardens.
