The Human-Reaper slams the battlefield with its limbs, occasionally tearing away a platform. If standing near the edge when this occurs, Shepard may be knocked off the platform and killed. The Human-Reaper also possesses a ranged energy weapon fired out of its mouth. This weapon requires a charge-up time, signified by distinct visual and sound cues, and will damage any Collectors caught in its path.

Alternate dialogue for the reveal of the Human-Reaper Larva during the Suicide Mission, as well as the battle immediately thereafter.

that is just a core of the reaper. Well What we fought, didn't have its shell in Which would be a Harbinger shell. If it was completed, it would have the shell as well.

That pretty much sums up the subject.

Although, in essence, it is strange that the Reapers chose to turn one of the most primitive species into their next Reaper, it all really comes down to what Commander Shepard had accomplished; he was the greatest thorn in the Reaper's side, and the Reapers, likely directed by Harbinger, chose to focus on harvesting humans, perhaps as some form of insult to Shepard himself, or simply because they were impressed at what a lone human could achieve.

What has always confused me the most on the subject of Reaper creation is that they only create one new Reaper per cycle. One new Reaper. I most likely interpreted something wrong, but if that's how it actually is, how on Earth did they survive for as long as they did? Millions upon millions of years and they likely lost quite a few Reapers per cycle. We saw how many Reapers were destroyed in Mass Effect 3, and it was well beyond a dozen. Just doesn't add up that they would create a single Reaper per fifty thousand years and manage to survive, not to mention how that rule may or may not apply to lesser Reaper classes, such as Destroyers.

I seriously hope I am misinformed, because that makes zero sense.

Yeah the "one reaper" thing was really stupid. I think they were going for a poetic idea ("from each cycle a reaper is born" sounds cooler than "from each cycle a number of new reapers are born") at the cost of sense.

A problem that occurred more often as the series progressed sadly. The human reaper thing is one of the best examples of it.
