I would assume normally like any other races.

I'm given to understand that they have a comparable life span to humans that is slightly longer on average due to their superior medical technologies and hygiene.
Also, elves in dragon age don't live longer than humans. Least not any more, if they ever did.

I'm pretty sure Elves live about the same lifespan as Humans do. Unless you're talking about when they were immortal?

That was exactly my point; the OP is apparently under the impression that elves live longer, when that isn't the case.

All 4 humanoid races generally age around the same rate as each other. It was said that with the Qunari's superior medical knowledge and sanitation that they can increase their life span to a small but significant degree

That's kind of disheartening, I think it would be really cool for them to live longer.

But why? What makes them so special that they should live longer than any other race?

They do acted and look as if they take a great deal of interest in the health and physical well being.

Well you see the Qunari are a predominately male race. So, in order for the race to survive they steel babies. The babies they take are then taken to their priestesses who give them their milk. The milk turns the babies skin grey and leathery. at the age of eight the claw like nails begin to take form. Then, at the age of twelve to fifteen the horns begin to grow. Then older the male and the amount of testosterone can lead to lager and more shapely horns. In the winter, the Qunari lose their horns. Some say because they can be used as a food source in dire times. Because of the races warrior ways the longevity of the males can be looked at as short with the eldest being in their 70's. The females longevity is much longer living past the age of one hundred. Horn loss is common in elderly Qunari.

They have the same lifespan, according to Mary Kirby, but they live longer because they have superior medical care.

By getting older.

That only goes so far. I doubt they have modern-day innovations like vaccines and antibiotics. Hell, I doubt they even understand what bacteria and viruses are (assuming they exist in DA).

I sort of feel as though they should weather like an oak tree, rather than getting fragile with age. I can't imagine the purpose of the elderly in Qunari society- do they just dispose of people who have no further use, or do they revere their elders? Do they have qunari retirement homes where they sit around telling war stories and knitting horn covers for qunari children? :S
When a Qunari gets too old to fulfill their purpose, they usually take up a teaching role. If they are incapable of that, then they are completely retired. The old and infirm Qunari are taken care of by the priesthood. Needless to say, for a Qunari to be unable to fulfill his role is a major identity crisis, and many old Qunari end up commiting suicide, since they can't handle having no purpose.

They probably live longer. But that's just the impression they give.
City elves don't live longer anymore, but apparently dalish elves live slightly longer due to them staying away from everyone else?

Dalish elves do live longer and according to them, they are slowly regaining immortality. City elves probably die youngest, because the live in poverty. Dwarven nobles do not live as long as humans. Assassination and dwarven politics go hand-in-hand. Quanari live a little longer because of superior medicine and hygiene.

They're clearly the most physically fit and they're also pretty advanced. Mix that with their willpower and mindset and there's my reason.

They do live slightly longer on average for that reason. They have better medical care than the average human peasant.
The natural lifespan is apparently the same though.

I asked this a while ago and I think the consensus was, in terms of longevity,
Dwarves
Qunari
Humans, Elves
You know, assuming they were healthy and stuff.
