My FShep is displaying surprising chemistry with Liara. Which is fine except that I'm not much for children, blue or otherwise. Neither is Shep. Any advice on dialogue options? Or should I chalk it up to different life paths and go for Thane?

Are there any situations where you are forced to express a desire for children? I know that in the "a lot of little blue children" Shadow Broker dialogue it's a wheel choice, so you can probably avoid it.

I believe there is an option in LotSB that doesn't say anything about little blue children. The "renegade" one. That should allow you to skip the mention of those babies.

Could be misremembering, been some time since I played and I never choose any other option anyway :)

EDIT: semi :bandit: 'd.

IIRC, the Renegade line leads to what's effectively a breajup, even if ME3 doesn't really register it.

I always took that line as a teasing joke.

If you choose it twice then yes. If you choose renegade the first time and paragon on next dialogue wheel then you steel keep the romance going, but avoid the little blue children line.

Again, this is quoting from memory. I could look for the videos on youtube, but I'm not sure there's something that detailed.

You can choose the renegade option and still keep the romance active. I did on my canon playthrough.

When Liara asks "If this all ends tommorow..what happens to us?" choose the renegade option. The dialogue summary sounds a lot worse than what Shepard actually says. It is summarized as "death most likely" but what Shepard actually says is something like, "You've seen the data Liara. Even if we somehow pull this off, I don't think either of us gets to see the victory parade." The summary sounds like ghoulish Javik-style trolling, while in the actual voiced dialogue Shepard is just being realistic. Although I'm in the minority amongst Liara's fans,  I prefer that route because I think it sounds more honest than deflecting with humor and presenting an unflappable optimistic face to her.

Anyway, if you go that route Liara will then get upset and ask Shepard something like, "Well what's the point then? Of this? Of us?" To keep the romance path active you just choose the dialogue option where Shepard says something like, "We're not dead yet Liara. Lets make the most of whatever time we have left together." If I remember correctly, that one is the paragon option.

I'm probably not remembering the dialogue exactly as it is, but it is close enough.

That all being said, in Mass Effect 3 it will be forgotten that you might not have had the 'blue children' dialogue in LotSB. Liara will reference the line during Priroity: Earth. I didn't see it as a big deal, because its not necessarily unrealistic for Liara to joke about children even if Shepard hasn't, but that might be an issue if you are looking to avoid any mention of children altogether.

I know she doesn't mention little blue children if you've started romance in the third game because I've tried that. So I'm guessing that's just another flag messed up, or something similar.

And they are drawn.

I love drawn eyebrows. And make up.

I like Goths.

Hah!

Technically they aren't eyebrows. They are just her facial markings like most Asari have. Hers just also happen to conveniently be in the same place that our eyebrows would be and in a similar shape.

Its an odd design choice really. If they thought eyebrows were necessarily to make a female LI appealing, why not just give the entire species actual eyebrows and be done with it?

Because it raises questions on why they don't have hair anywhere else.

Somewhere, there's an asari with markings that look like armpit hair.

Not necessarily.  Just because a species evolved to have hair in one place doesn't mean it would automatically have hair (or something like hair) in another.

Bioware made Liara the ideal romance for all shepards. In my opinion, if your not so much for children go ahead an romance Thane since he dies anyway.

There's no such thing as an ideal romance for all Shepards. And a lack of interest in kids doesn't imply a lack of interest in a long-term relationship.

I wasn't implying that but implying he wont be an issue concerning kids since he dies anyway. I played Femshep once and romance Samantha but she said something about wanting kids though. My only recommendation would be to romance Samara or Jacob. Heavy risk but the Prriiiize!!

Caroline's an enormous geek (well, in my headcanon anyways). She'd be perfectly happy picking up bits of Prothean pottery for the rest of her life. She's also rather coldly practical, as needed. Thane's main drow is his philosophy quoting, spirtual side. As an ex-gang member she also gets his desire for redemption and the distinction between doing good and eliminating evil.

Whether or not a character is an ideal match for Shepard I think depends a lot upon how you are playing that Shepard. You can play multiple versions of the same character and have his or her personality diverge quite a bit from the version you played in a previous game. A LI who is compatible with Shepard in one playthrough may not be so compatible in another.

Is your Shepard an extension of yourself in some sort of way? Oh, and are you an Engineer in this playthrough? Sorry, but I had to ask 'cause of the "geek" part.

Not particularly myself. But what else do you call someone who keeps the Collector base, activates Legion, and rewrites the heretics because she can't bear losing all that knowledge?
