We already know who the companions are, there isn't much room for suggestions. For what it's worth, I miss Sten.

I think many of them will have cameos in DAI- Leliana, Alistair and Morrigan are confirmed, and Varric will be a companion again, but otherwise we have a new bunch of companions to grow to love/hate/murderknife

I think the OP is referring to optional companions?  In DA: O, all the companions except Alistair are optional and can be dismissed.  Fenris and Isabella are optional, too.

 

To answer that, I don't know.  I'm guessing Cassandra is required, but I don't know about the rest of the companions.  I've never dismissed any companions before, but I'm sure that others would like for that to be a possibility.

You mean you want to have the choice not to recruit possible companions? Got it wrong then xD I think it will be possible.

Probably some companions will be essential,and you will be stuck with them.
I will take a guess that Varric,Cassandra and Vivienne cannot leave you.

I think it will be happen again.  I have no idea which companions, though *shrugs*.  If I had to guess, maybe Iron Bull, the Grey Warden guy and the elf archer girl?

But not recruiting companions = missing some content,i recruited all companions in DA games except for Loghain.

You can send her away after reaching Lothering and she will only return at the endgame to offer the Dark Ritual apparently.
